Stamp Simply #105

TGIF! I am ready for the weekend! How about you?

Since it's Friday, that means Sharon Johnson has another great Stamp Simply challenge for you! The challenge today is CAS/BIO! What's that mean??? That means Clean and Simple, Black (or brown!) Ink Only! Can you handle it? No coloring allowed, and let the beauty of your papers and embellishments create the WOW factor!

Now, I will admit that as I made my card, the clean and simple part of the challenge kinda' flew out of my head! I honestly forgot about that part, so my card isn't too over the top, but I wouldn't call it clean and simple, either! Forgive me, and we'll trust that my Stamp Simply sisters have better inspiration to provide you with today!

I bought this sentiment stamp at a stamp store that I went to the with the Stamp Simply girls while in Shipshewana this past summer. I do not remember the name of the store, and I believe the owner made the stamps herself so unfortunately I can't tell you where it came from. This tree is from an Impression Obsession clear set, and my scrumptious gingham ribbon is from Sharon's ribbon store!
On the inside I stamped the tree again in second generation, then stamped the sentiment.
Stop by Sharon's blog for her beautiful sample and all the challenge details, then stop and see what my Stamp Simply sisters have created today to also inspire you!

Charlene Merrick, September Guest Designer

Just Rite Font Hop

Welcome to another stop on the JustRite Font Mega Blog Hop today! I am one of the lucky participants (there are 54 altogether!) to get to show you some more fun ideas using all the great fonts available from JustRite Stampers! And in conjunction with this Blog Hop, JustRite is celebrating with a Super 7 Day Font Sale! Take 30% off all the JustRite Font sets, and the horizontal and vertical stampers! This sale begins today and ends on September 24th.

For my projects today, I have chosen to use the Curlz Uppercase Font set. My first project is something that was completely inspired by Ms. Fabulous, Sharon Johnson! Sharon posted a spectacular Christmas project at this time last year on the Just Rite blog that I have always loved, so I adapted my own version of it for Thanksgiving, using the Curlz 95 pt. font to spell out "GIVE THANKS". Each letter was stamped on Natural Ivory cardstock with Versamark and Rhubarb Stalk Memento ink, then clear embossed. My panels are all covered with the new Indian Summer paper from Basic Grey and I've accessorized with some Zva felt flowers, a stamped pumpkin, and stamped leaves from Melanie Muenchinger's new "A Year of Leaves" stamp set. Some jumbo eyelets, buttons, brads and ribbon finished off my project!

(click on the photos for close-up views)
To create the accordian-fold panels, I cut 2 pieces of cardstock 3 1/2" x 9" and one piece of cardstock 3 1/2" x 8". Then each piece was scored using a Scor-Pal at 2" intervals, flipping the cardstock with each score.
I'm so pleased to be able to display this with all my other Fall decorations! Many thanks for Sharon for her awesome inspiration!
For my second project, I created something that's a little play on words. At the end of next month, we'll be hearing the words "Trick or Treat!" a lot! So I decided to create a "Treats for Tricks" jar for our family dog! This is going to look so great on my kitchen counter with some other Halloween decor! And Dexter is such a good dog, so he deserves some treats!

(click on the photos for close-up views)
I again used the Curlz Uppercase Font set, this time using the smallest font, the 25 pt. to create the sentiment around the border "Treats for Tricks" and on the lid of the jar. I used some new Bo Bunny Halloween papers for my jar with matching buttons, my Nestabilities, and some ribbon from Creative Impressions.

Be sure to check out ALL the other blog hop participants today for more inspiration! They are all linked below! AND, there is Mystery Blog Candy being given away during this awesome 2-day event! Why is it a mystery? Well, there will be 3 prizes given away each day and you can only win by leaving a comment on the right blog! Which blog is the right one? That's the mystery! Not even the designers know who it's going to be! So as you visit each of the 54 designers over the next two days, take time to leave a comment! Who knows... the lucky winner could be YOU! You have until Sunday at noon EST to leave a comment for your chance to win. Check the JustRite blog on Sunday evening to find out who won!

Here's your official "Hop List" for today!

Thank you SO much for visiting my blog along the way! I'd love to know what you think of my creations! Happy stamping!

Cupcake Inspiration #24

Time for another Cupcake-inspired challenge with the Hope Stamps Sweeties! In honor the upcoming holiday we have these awesome pirate cupcakes for you today! What? You don't know about the upcoming holiday??? Where have you been? Everyone knows that next Saturday, September 19th is Talk Like a Pirate Day! Avast, me hearties.... be inspired by yon cupcakes and create some swashbuckling cards!
I had no choice for this challenge but to use some very neglected Cat's Pajamas pirate stamps that were gathering dust in my stash! I was also inspired by the colors and used some paper from my Cosmo Cricket Early Bird paper deck (available at Hope Stamps Eternal). Plus I thought the Moroccan Screen Cuttlebug embossing folder (also available at Hope Stamps Eternal) mimicked the red pattern on top of the white cupcakes.

I also used the TCP Tuesday Challenge #75 from this past week, which was a sketch challenge hosted by Leigh for the layout of my card!
And the inside... can't neglect that!
Stop and see what the other Sweeties have created if you need further inspiration! And don't forget to stop at the Hope Stamps blog and leave a link to your creation!

Shiver me timbers... I thank you for stopping by!

Stamps: all stamps (The Cat's Pajamas)

PCP Sketch Challenge and DZ Doodles

Hello friends! Today I have the Paper Craft Planet Sketch challenge to share with you! This is a fairly simple layout that you can take a lot of liberty with as far as layers and embellishments, so please just have some fun with it and play along!
I have two samples to inspire you below...

This first one allows me to showcase the new Toby Turtle image being released today from a fairly new digital stamp company called DZ Doodles! My sweet PCP design team sister Kim Burmeister is on the team for DZ and asked me to join in and help them launch a new release today, so she sent me this cute turtle image that I am happily showing you today! Doesn't he look cute in his country straw hat?

So I hope you'll take the time to play along today! Stop by the Sketch Challenge group at Paper Craft Planet for complete details, and upload your creation to the gallery using sk091209 (all lowercase, please!) Later today I'll get an album set up and start pulling the cards into it for your viewing pleasure!

And please pay a visit to the girls at DZ Doodles and check out the new releases they have for you today! Thanks!

Copic 101 Class

I'm having a Copic 101 class at the store on Saturday, so I just thought I'd quickly show you the easy cards we'll be making with the colored images. This class will focus more on the Copic coloring methods, so the cards are very simple designs.

This first card uses a beautiful Fall image from DRS Designs. I just love it, and know I'm going to get a lot of use out of this stamp in the coming months!
This sweet little watermelon comes from the Feelin' Fruity set recently released at My Favorite Things. I'm puzzled though as to why a "thanks a melon" sentiment wasn't included in this set? That seems like it ought to be a staple item with a watermelon image! ;) But it's a really cute set of stamps anyway... another one I can see I'm going to be using often!
And finally, one of my favorite Stamping Bella images... the Twinkle Fairy!
Please stay tuned... I have the Paper Craft Planet Saturday sketch challenge coming up for you at 9:00 a.m!

Stamp Simply #104 - Got Candy?

It's that magical day... Friday means it's time for Stamp Simply! Sharon's challenges are always so much fun to do! I look forward to having a sample for you every week, and this week was no exception! This week we're creating with the thought that Fall is almost upon us, and that means Halloween is coming! The pumpkins, cornstalks, leaf raking, bonfires, hayrides... here in Wayne County, Ohio it also means the county fair begins! This year, my daughter Kelsey has entered three photographs that she took over the summer in the Jr. Photography division so cross your fingers for a blue ribbon for her!

But I digress... Sharon's challenge to you today is to create a card or other project for Halloween! Perhaps you'd like to create a bag or other container for treats? Just make something Halloweenie, and if you don't care to create for Halloween how about just getting a pumpkin or other Fall/Autumn image into your design? Just have fun!
I absolutely loved the recent Color Throwdown challenge with All That Scraps as our sponsor with stamps from C.C. Designs. Their images are just TOO cute, so I couldn't resist using this one of Emma dressed up for trick or treating in her sweet lil' cow costume! Is she not freakin' adorable? Since I spent a good amount of time coloring her with Copics I kept the rest of my card design fairly simple since this is a challenge to stamp simply! ;)
Stop and see what my Stamp Simply sisters have to inspire you today, and get busy on some Halloween creations!

I know there have been a lot of blog posts this week, and I appreciate those of you that stick with me through all of them! I try hard not to overload you all, and take a break from posting every day. But I also count myself to be pretty lucky to have companies that trust me to showcase their products and I want to do my best by them, so sometimes it gets busy here at Stamp Happy! So again, a big thank you to all my wonderful readers and those who take time to comment! Consider yourself hugged by me!

Paper Craft Planet Super Nova - Blog Hop

Tonight I have some bittersweet news to share.... one of our Paper Craft Planet Super Novas is leaving the Planet. Melanie Muenchinger has been on the Paper Craft Planet Design Team since the Planet launched last year, but with mounting family and design commitments she needs to scale back on her other teams to focus on illustrating for Gina K Designs. So, as a little farewell, the PCP Girls are throwing a going-away "Best Wishes" bash in the form of a blog hop featuring two of Melanie's newest stamp sets: "A Year of Leaves," and "School, Sports, Spirit!"

Also, Gina K is sponsoring a challenge in conjunction with this blog hop over on Paper Craft Planet with a chance to win either of these new sets. Upload a new project you create with a best wishes or good luck theme to the PCP gallery by Monday night, September 14th at 10:00 p.m. with the tag GKDBW. (Here is a tutorial on adding pictures to the gallery if you need it!) A winner will be announced on Tuesday and that person will have their choice of one of Melanie's new sets. Good luck!

For my card, I used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch challenge for my layout, but chose to make my own version of a Scrapling for the complete design. When I make a square card, it's generally made to fit the 5" envelopes I keep on hand, so I cut my cardstock 4 7/8" x 9 3/4" and fold in half for a perfect fit. From an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock this leaves me with a piece measuring 8 1/2" x 3 3/8" and I fold that in half to create my version of a Scrapling.

I stamped several leaves from the A Year of Leaves set using black Staz-On ink on watercolor paper, then watercolored each leaf with an aquapainter and some dye inks. I really love how they turned out! I must watercolor more often! :)
Please see more samples that my Super Nova Sisters created with Melanie's stamp sets by visiting their blogs...

And you can stop by the challenge gallery to check out all the samples and entries for the contest here.

Thanks for stopping by, and stay tuned for the Stamp Simply challenge, coming right up!

Happy stamping!

Color Throwdown #59 with All That Scraps

It's time for yet another Color Throwdown, and this week our hostess is Danielle! She's picked these beautiful Fall colors to inspire you! We also have another great sponsor this week for the Throwdown, and I was so thrilled to work with the stamps this week from C.C. Designs at All That Scraps! How cute is Apple Emma here, I ask you?

I think she has just come from the apple orchard and is getting ready to bake a pie! I hope she's got some vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce to go with it! :)
All That Scraps is also offering a great prize for one lucky participant this week, so head on over to the Throwdown blog to check out all the details! (I wish I could win!) Link your creation using Mr. Linky and remember... direct links to your blog post, please! We've also had a few players recently who have uploaded to a Flickr account or to Facebook. Not all of our team members have access to these websites, and it makes it very difficult for us and others to comment on your creation! We don't want anyone to feel unloved, so whenever possible, uploading to a gallery in an online stamping community such as Paper Craft Planet is preferred. Use CTD59 for your photo tag in the galleries!

For the inside of my card, I used this "apple of my eye" sentiment from Stamping Bella.

Check out the cute C.C. Designs cards from my Throwdown sisters for more inspiration!

Barbara * Kristin, September Guest Designer

I can't wait to see what you create! Happy stamping, and thanks for stopping by!
