Sending You X’s and O’s

Hello everyone!  It’s February 1st, so you know what that means… time for a new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!  Here’s our inspiration photo for this round…

15965881_10211702997559227_6057557714699487780_n

I was immediately drawn to the X’s and O’s in the photo, and thought it’d be fun to create the whole card background with the letters.  So I turned to some retired Die-Namics from My Favorite Things to create my card…

X's and O's

Yes… if you’re wondering, that DID take me some time, to glue all those letters down!  LOL  But I’m happy with the final result.  I added a Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics banner across the center, with a sentiment stamped from the Essential Sentiments stamp set from MFT, and behind that I added a die-cut vellum heart.  My colors were inspired by the new Color Throwdown challenge, which I spotted as a sneak peek on Facebook last night!

Have a Cool Day

Hey everyone, it’s time for another Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!  Our inspiration this time around is this photo of these really “cool” icicles…

icicle

For lack of any icicle stamps or dies, I went with something else that’s “cool”…

Curtain Call - Icicle

I did a watercolor wash background with some Salty Ocean Distress Ink, and splattered it with some water, Tinsel and Perfect Pearl sprays.  After the background dried, I die-cut the panel with Blueprints 13.  I stamped the sentiment from the Birdie Brown Cool Day stamp set, and embossed wtih clear embossing powder.  Then I die-cut a (retired) Pierced Snowflake from vellum, adhered it to the card front and embellished with some sequins.

Be sure to stop over at the Curtain Call blog for all the challenge details, and join us!  You could be chosen as the “Lead” for our next challenge and join us as Guest Designer!

Curtain Call–Sweet

Curtain Call - Sweet

It’s time for a new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge, and this time around we’re getting you in the holiday spirit with this cute inspiration photo…

13903169_10210214953999068_1918739025749168956_n

A wonderful mug of hot chocolate, complete with a marshmallow gingerbread man!  How yummy is that?  For my card, I went with the fun Hot Cocoa Cups Die-Namics from My Favorite Things, along with the matching Hug in a Mug stamp set.  (Thanks for the loan, Kirsty!)  I die-cut the mug from Kraft card stock and embellished with a red heart, then added a nice pile of whipped cream to the top, with a dusting of cocoa powder.  I added the mug, a strip of red gingham paper from the Tiny Check Paper Pack, and a Jellybean Green card stock sentiment flag over a watercolor wash of green.  A few enamel dots completed my card.

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge–At Home

Hi friends!  If it’s the 15th, that must mean it’s time for a new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!  This week we have this fabulous rustic piece of home decor to inspire you…

14034936_10210214950798988_9046305219603367638_n

I chose to keep my design a little clean and simple this week, based on our inspiration piece…

Curtain Call-At Home

I used a piece of woodgrain designer paper for my background, die-cutting it with a Blueprints 24 die and mounting it to a piece of Whip Cream card stock.  I die-cut some Blu Raspberry card stock using the Prayers die from Simon Says Stamp, and added a sentiment from the matching stamp set on a yellow Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX flag.  Using the Leafy Confetti Cuts from Reverse Confetti, I die-cut some green card stock to add some foliage to the left side of my card, and finished with some enamel dots.

Please be sure to stop over at the Curtain Call blog for all the challenge details, and join us!  You could be in the running to be chosen as the “Lead” and be our guest designer for the next challenge!  And be sure to visit the Crew for plenty of inspiration…

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge

Hello there, and happy Fall, my friends!  I hope this season of harvest has been as beautiful for you as it has been for us here in Northeast Ohio!  Except for some rainy days, we’ve had a fantastic Indian summer here…in more ways than one seeing as how the Indians are going to win the World Series tonight, too!  Smile  Oh, but I digress!

I’m here today to share the new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge with you!  Today’s challenge is inspired by this awesome photo…

13901409_10210214950558982_2960221714619351668_n

If I had felt in these gorgeous colors, I would have used it.  But I don’t so I went with card stock and here’s what I came up with…

Curtain Call - Felt

I LOVED the yellow dots on the burlap background, and I tried so hard to replicate that but had no success.  So I went with the next best thing and used the Peek-a-Boo Polka Dots Die-Namics Cover-Up die for my background.  The leaves were cut from Blu Raspberry, Persimmon, and Jellybean Green card stock using the Falling Leaves Die-Namics.  Behind the leaves I added a Stitched Circle STAX Die-Namics frame cut from Hot Fudge card stock.  And added the sentiment from Essential Sentiments stamped on a Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX Dei-Namics.  A few sequins and a button embellishment finished my card.

Please be sure to stop over at the Curtain Call blog for all the challenge details, and join us!  You could be in the running to be chosen as the “Lead” and be our guest designer for the next challenge!  And be sure to visit the Crew for plenty of inspiration…

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge–Glittery Gourds

Hello friends!  This is just a friendly reminder that there are a few days left for the current Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge based on the photo below…

glittery gourds 101516

How pretty are those glittery pumpkins!?  I started out with one idea for my card, but then it evolved into this one…

Curtain Call-Glittery Gourds

I used a traditional orange pumpkin, utilizing the Pumpkin Patch Confetti Cuts die from Reverse Confetti, and added some “glitter” with a gold glitter card stock flag behind my sentiment flag.  My sentiment comes from a retired Pure Innocence stamp set from My Favorite Things.  Also from MFT are the polka dot piece behind the pumpkin from Blueprints 22 Die-Namics and the Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics.

Curtain Call - Fall Florals

The Curtain Call team is part of a special blog hop today.  Altenew invited the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge to be part of The Ultimate Challenge Blog Hop, along with many other fabulous challenge blogs!

Curtain Call has some extra inspiration to get your creative juices flowing!  One can't think of Altenew without thinking of their amazing floral designs, so we threw some fall floral inspiration into the mix!

So, here's my card for today...

I finally got some ink on my Peony Bouquet stamp set from Altenew, and am now wondering why it took me so long to use this beautiful stamp set???  My design was inspired by this card by Tasnim.  I thought some gold touches added some elegance, so I stamped a polka dot background and embossed with gold embossing powder.  (That was though, after I mistook gold GLITTER for embossing powder and made a MESS!  Ugh... does anyone else despise glitter as much as I do?)  I didn't really feel like I had a good spot for a sentiment, so I left this card blank inside and out, and can customize as needed.

Curtain Call Reminder–Candy Apple

Hello friends!  Just a reminder, there’s still time to join us for the current Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!  Here’s the photo to inspire you this time around…

September 1

Because I just can’t resist gingham, I went with another gingham-patterned apple for my card this week…

Curtain Call - Candy Apple 2

For this design, I used my well-loved Red Delicious Die-Namics (so sad that this is retired!) from My Favorite Things for that big, gorgeous apple, and put a piece of black and white polka dot paper behind it.  I added some extra dimension to the design by using the BG Diagonal Stripes background stamp from MFT on the left side of the back panel.  My layout is loosely based on the Retro Sketch #229 from last week.

Curtain Call - Candy Apple

Yay, it's September 1st and even though the calendar says Fall doesn't officially start for 3 more weeks, I'm ready to start celebrating now!  Our county fair is next week, there's pumpkin spice everything everywhere, and lots of wonderful Fall produce!  Including apples which can be made into candy apples... which coincidentally is our inspiration for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge today!

Now me, I prefer a caramel apple but these still look pretty tasty!  I hope you'll join us for the challenge.  You could be chosen as the Lead, and join us for the next challenge!  Stop by the Curtain Call blog for all the details!

Here's what I created for today...

I used a retired Die-namics die from My Favorite Things to die-cut this little apple from some gingham paper, and put it over a black polka dot flag, and a green apple watercolor wash background.  The sentiment was created from two separate retired MFT stamp sets, and I embellished with some enamel dots.

Again, please be sure to stop over at the Curtain Call blog for all the challenge details, and join us!  You could be in the running to be chosen as the “Lead” and be our guest designer for the next challenge!  And be sure to visit the Crew for plenty of inspiration…

Curtain Call–Flamingo Reminder

Hey friends, just a reminder you have until Thursday, August 25th at 8:00 Central time to join us for the current Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!  The current challenge is inspired by this photo.  Remember, it’s all about being inspired by the photo.  If you don’t have anything flamingo-themed, that’s OK.  Be inspired by the colors, and actual items (the phone cases, the blouse, the swim ring)… let your imagination lead you!

August 15

Since I used my only flamingo-themed item on my card last week, I chose today to be inspired by the swim floaty, and went with this much-loved stamp from Whipper Snapper Designs for my card…

Curtain Call-Flamingo reminder

This Poolside Chicken stamp has always been a favorite of mine from Whipper Snapper Designs (And how cool is it that a card I made using it is the one they use to sell the stamp on their website?  I LOVE it!)  I chose to give my chicken a bright pink bikini to match the flamingo floaty in the inspiration photo, then added waves, a blue sky and sunshine coloring with my Copic markers.  I’d seriously LOVE to be in that same scenario right now!  My one chance so far this summer to go swimming was ruined by rain last Sunday, but we need the rain so bad here in Ohio so it’s all good.  No one needs to see me in my swimsuit, anyway!

Curtain Call–Flamingo

Hello friends, happy Monday!  (IS there such a thing?)  It’s time for a new Curtain Call Inspiration challenge, and here is the inspiration photo…

August 15

Now, who can’t have fun with this?  Flamingoes are so fun to use in stamping designs, and I know there are a lot of them out there to choose from!  And if you don’t have anything flamingo-themed, just be inspired by the colors or just a tropical theme.  The challenge is open to your interpretation.  By participating, you could be chosen as the Lead for our next challenge, so stop over at the Curtain Call blog for all the details!

Here’s my card…

Curtain Call-Flamingo

I pulled out my rarely used LLD Flamingo Die-Namics from My Favorite Things, and the LLD Tickled Pink stamps to create my card.  I was inspired by the flamingoes in the inspiration photo, of course and also the great turquoise green tones in the phone case at the bottom, so I created a watercolor background for my flamingo to rest on.  I added a splash of yellow along the side for a more tropical feel.  The sentiment was stamped on vellum, and the second half of the sentiment “that it’s your birthday” is stamped on the inside.  My card layout was inspired by the current CAS(E) this Sketch #185.

Please be sure to stop over at the Curtain Call blog for all the challenge details, and join us!  You could be in the running to be chosen as the “Lead” and be our guest designer for the next challenge!  And be sure to visit the Crew for plenty of inspiration…

Curtain Call–Snow Cone Reminder

snow cone

There’s still time to join the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge this week, and create a card using the inspiration photo above!  Enter by Wednesday, August 10th at 8:00 a.m. Central time to be in the running to be our next Lead Designer!

I created another card with a cool, summertime refreshment theme by using this watercolor card from the Suzy’s Sizzling Series package at Simon Says Stamp.  I got a LOT of inspiration for my card from Debby Hughes’ card here

Curtain Call-Snow Cones 2

I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers for my card, and an aqua brush.  And I took some hints from Debby’s card and added some Diamond Stickles, Perfect Pearls and Wink of Stella pen for some sparkle, as well as a few clear sequins.

Curtain Call–Summer Snow Cones

Hi friends!  I am (ashamedly!) back with another late blog post today.  We had teenage girl crisis last night that resulted in a long trip to Columbus and back, and by the time we got home I had to get to bed or wouldn’t have been fit for work today.  (Although, I have a few co-workers who’d probably say I’m not fit anyday!)

It’s time for another great Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge, and this time around these oh-so-cool looking snow cones are our inspiration!

snow cone

How I WISHED that I had some snow cone images to use for this, but I didn’t AND I resisted the urge to shop for some!  LOL  (Well, I resisted for a little bit but then I gave in to the urge, which you’ll see next week!)  Instead, I focused on the “rainbow” of colors here and created my own version of some cool refreshments…

Curtain Call-Snow Cones

I pulled out the very fun So Smooth stamp set from Lawn Fawn to create a nice row of summer smoothies for my card.  I stamped each one on Distress watercolor card stock, and colored each one with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.  Then I used the same markers to splatter the background with a little inky confetti, and added a paper umbrella to one of the drinks.  Now, in hindsight, I’d like to go back and add some glossy accents to each glass, but for now this is it.  But before I send this out to someone, I might just do that!

I got a little bit of inspiration for my card from this photo of Starbucks drinks, featuring the Orange, Green, Blue, Purple and Pink drinks!  OMGosh, I'm addicted to Pink Drinks!  They're so yummy!

Curtain Call Reminder

Hello friends!  Have you joined us yet for the current Curtain Call Inspiration challenge?  There is still time to join us!  You have until July 25th at 8:00 AM CDT to be inspired and share your project!  Here’s the inspiration photo if you need a refresher…

image1

At crafty day last Saturday with my friends, I borrowed the sweet Birdie Brown Magical Unicorns stamp set and matching Die-Namics from Kirsty (and pilfered a bit of some pretty pink glitter paper, too!) to make this card…

Curtain Call-Unicorn 2

Using the End of the Rainbow Die-Namics, I created a bit of a non-traditional rainbow using colors from the inspiration photo.  I used the current Retro Sketch #223 for the layout, and had some inspiration from this card by Jody Morrow.  My unicorn was colored with Copics as part of The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge.

Be sure to stop by the Curtain Call blog for all the challenge details, and hurry up and join us!  You could be chosen as the Lead for the next challenge!

Curtain Call–Unicorn

Hello friends!  I’m so happy you’re here today because I have some really happy news to share!  I am THRILLED to be joining the hugely talented team at the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!  Squeeee!  I can’t thank Stacey and the team enough for asking me to join them!

crew badge

And I hope YOU will join us, too!  Play along this week by creating something inspired by this darling photo…

image1

Now, when I first saw this photo, I thought “what am I gonna’ do???”  I did not have any unicorn stamps, but please don’t let that stop you!  You can just be inspired by the colors!  Maybe an image of a princess since there’s a crown on the chair.  Maybe create something with a banner like the flags?  Think outside the box, and get creative because that’s what it’s all about!

However, I couldn’t resist ordering some new stamps, and I’m so thankful to Jen at Reverse Confetti for rushing these right out her door to me!  From Texas to Northeast Ohio… order placed Thurdsay morning, stamps in my mailbox before noon on Saturday!  How’s that for awesome customer service?!?!?!  So here’s my card…

Curtain Call - Unicorn

I went with a unicorn for my main image as you can see, by using the Unicorn Wishes stamp set and matching Confetti Cuts dies from Reverse Confetti.  I used the Double Scallop Gardland Confetti Cuts to mimic the banner flags in the photo, and added the peach sentiment flag along with some gold sequins for embellishment.  On the background panel, I stamped a striped background with Versamark ink, then embossed with white embossing powder to reflect the wall behind the chair.

Please be sure to stop over at the Curtain Call blog for all the challenge details, and join us!  You could be in the running to be chosen as the “Lead” and be our guest designer for the next challenge!  And be sure to visit the Crew for plenty of inspiration…

CrAzY for Cheer

It’s time for another challenge with the Crazies, and this week we’re looking to cheer someone up!  July 11th is actually Cheer Up the Lonely Day, so let’s create cards that provide comfort and encouragement!

I went with a simple thinking of you sentiment for my card…

C4C344

I colored this poppy from the LJD Delicate Pretty Poppies stamp set from My Favorite Things using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, then die cut and mounted it to a piece of watercolor card stock that I also used my Zig markers on.  I splattered the background with water, some watered-down Perfect Pearls and some Tropical Teal dye ink as well, and embellished with a few sequins.  My poppy and background were colored as part of The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge, and I also used these colors for the current Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge.

Curtain Call–With Sympathy

Hello stamping friends, how was your weekend?  I spent some time stamping, and it was wonderful!  One card I needed to make was a sympathy card for a friend at church who lost her Mom this past week.  As luck would have it, I already had the Altenew Vintage Flowers stamp set out on my work table, and when I saw the newest Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge today, I knew those flowers would work for my card!  I created a beautiful rose, and combined it with some blues and purples to go with the challenge and made this card…
with Sympathy
My rose was stamped with hybrid inks from My Favorite Things, from lightest to darkest Pink Lemonade, Cotton Candy, Ripe Raspberry and Cranberry Cocktail.  The leaves were stamped with Factory Green, Jellybean Green and Olive hybrid inks, and the little purple flower was stamped with Grapesicle and Lavender Fields.  I used Distress watercolor card stock and Blueberry premium dye ink from MFT for the background, splattering with more ink and some Perfect Pearls mixture.  On the left is a strip of purple gingham paper from this Doodlebug pad, and I added a die-cut sentiment using the Simon Says With Sympathy die.  I mounted my finished panel to a piece of Fog card stock.
I’m also entering my card in the current Work it Wednesday challenge at Simon Says Stamp.\

I hope you’ve had a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge – Celebrate!

Curtain Call July cropped

Oooh, I've got some fun news to share today!  A few weeks ago, I entered this card in the Curtain Call beach ball challenge, and I was chosen as the Lead for that challenge!  And that gives me the wonderful privilege of joining the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge team today as their Guest Designer!  I'm so thrilled, especially because this challenge marks a very special occasion!

Here are the details...
unnamed

To celebrate the Curtain Call's third anniversary, the Celebrate challenge will run the entire month of July!  The LEAD of this challenge will be invited as a Guest Designer in a future challenge! So, with that great inspiration photo, I knew I was going to want to use balloons and gold glitter in my design.

 And here's my card!

Curtain Call July
I pulled out the Drop In stamp set from The Cat's Pajamas and used my Copics to color, and then fussy cut the image.  I added the sentiment from the stamp set on the lower right side of my Sno Cone card stock panel, and sponged some chevrons onto the panel with Sno Cone hybrid ink.  Now, for the glitter.... well, I've always said that I am glitter challenged and I was really dreading trying to somehow add some gold glitter to this design without completely ruining it!  But, my BFF Barbara Anders came to the rescue and suggested gold glitter card stock stars!  PERFECT, right?  I used Blueprints 11 and Blueprints 24 Die-Namics from My Favorite Things for those little stars.  I also added a few Stitched Clouds Cut-Ups to the panel, and a gold glitter card stock Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics behind the panel.

On the inside, I added a birthday sentiment, and a Die-Namics Party Balloon...

Hope Your Day is Cool

These new Birdie Brown Penguins in Paradise stamps that were just released at My Favorite Things were just too irresistible… I had to order last week!  And having the matching dies just makes it so easy to create a fun little scene for Mr. Penguin to enjoy…

Cool Day by Tammy Hershberger

I actually colored my little penguin earlier as part of #thedailymarker30day2 challenge, and then used him for this card.  I browsed a few challenge blogs looking for layout inspiration and actually found THREE challenges I could use for this card!  That almost never happens for me but I used the current Clean & Simple Stamping layout #15, then worked the little beach ball into the design for the current Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge, and then found that Crazy 4 Challenges #289 this week is to include sunshine in your project!  My penguin, tree and beach ball are all colored with Copics, of course.  To create the little beach scene, I die-cut a Pierced Rectangle STAX Die-Namics from Sno Cone and Natural card stock.  Then, to make the sand I used the Rolling Hills Die-Namics, but used only the hill piece.  I added a few Flat Bottom Clouds Die-Namics cut from Sweet Tooth card stock and stamped a strip of Ripe Raspberry card stock with the BG Grid background stamp.  On the Lemon Chiffon back panel, I used the Tim Holtz Rays stencil using Lemon Chiffon hybrid ink.  I matted the panel on a piece of Black Licorice card stock, then mounted everything to a Sno Cone card stock base.

I can see myself having a LOT more fun with this sweet stamp set!

Have a great day!
