You are Amazing - Deconstructed Sketch #162

Hey there, happy Thursday everyone!  It’s always a good day when you can say “it’s almost the weekend!”  But before we go too far, it’s time for the Deconstructed Sketch #162 for today!  Jen’s got another great sketch for us today…

You can have some serious fun with this sketch, I’m sure!  Here’s what I did…

I used a new-to-me stamp set from My Favorite Things, Simply Fabulous Sayings.  I stamped “Amazing” on a Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX with Steel Grey hybrid ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I used the Blueprints 13 for the sentiment circle and the arrow on the circle.  On the yellow card stock background I embossed the Polka Dot Cover-Up Die-Namics.  I used the BG Diagonal Stripes background stamp on the small red strip on the left as well as on the gray strip at the card base.  And on the turquoise background I got a little wild with the BG Cheetah background!

Color Throwdown #303

Hello friends, and welcome to another Color Throwdown challenge!  This week we're up to challenge #303 and Broni is our hostess with this sweet Summertime inspiration photo.  Want to join us?  Stop by the CTD blog for all the challenge details.

Here's my card for today...

I loved the sketch #186 from My Favorite Things last week so much that I used it again today for my card.  I changed it up slightly making the card square instead, and really like how it came together.  The LJD Pretty Poppies stamp set was the perfect choice with these colors.  I cut out the poppies using the LJD Poppies and Leaves then stamped the poppies in Tangy Orange hybrid ink (yes... ORANGE!  I actually have one tiny piece of that old Poppy Parade card stock, and it's a very close match to the Tangy Orange.)  The flower stems were stamped with Jellybean Green hybrid ink on the Sour Apple card stock circle.  I also stamped the BG Linen background on the circle in Sour Apple hybrid ink, and added a sentiment from the stamp set in Steel Grey hybrid ink.  I matted the circle on a piece of Tangy Orange card stock, and then on a piece of Jellybean Green card stock.  On the Berrylicious card stock background I used the Small Brick Wall stencil and some white embossing paste, then sponged some Berrylicious hybrid ink, and Ranger Antique Linen distress ink around the edges to tone it down just a tiny bit.  I finished the design with a couple of flags cut from the Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics, and Blueprints 13, plus a few enamel dots for good measure.

Thank You - MFTWSC186

I needed a special thank you card for a special lady, so I used the sketch #186 from My Favorite Things this week for my layout.  I love this sketch… can tell ya’ already I’m gonna’ be using it again!  :)

Here we go…

I really wanted to do more than just a plain circle in the middle, so I started playing around with some ideas and decided on the cluster of flowers that were made with the Blueprints 12 Die-Namics, and added a butterfly from LJD Blissful Butterflies.  I made a frame for the circle by using the circle die from Blueprints 12 on Berrylicious card stock, and stamped it in Sno Cone hybrid ink with the BG Romantic Script background.  The Pink Lemonade card stock layer behind the frame was stamped with the BG Linen background in Pink Lemonade hybrid ink,
and the sentiment from the LJD Blissful Butterflies stamp set stamped in Steel Grey hybrid ink.  The flowers were cut from Orange Fizz card stock and Cotton Candy card stock, with leaves cut from Factory Green card stock.  On the Cotton Candy card stock background I stamped the BG Pinstripe background with Cotton Candy hybrid ink.  I embellished with some Fishtail Flags STAX in Orange Fizz and Factory Green card stocks, and some sequins.
On the inside…

…I stamped another butterfly in Berrylicious hybrid ink, and a sentiment stamped in Steel Grey hybrid ink from the You Make My Day stamp set.
