Deconstructed Sketch #166

Deconstructed Sketch #166 cropped by Tammy Hershberger
Hello friends, how are you?  I’m fabulous!  I’m currently enjoying a 6-day weekend, using a few vacation days from work to get some odd jobs done around the house, and just NOT have to go to work!  Ahhhhhh…..
It’s time today for another Deconstructed Sketch!  I think you’ll like this one…
sketch166
Cool, right?  Yeah, I like this one a lot!  My first thought was “what am I going to use for that long center panel?” and then it hit me that I just got the Topiary Trio stamp set and dies from Papertrey Ink!  The tallest tree was perfect for this sketch!
Deconstructed Sketch #166 by Tammy Hershberger
I die-cut the tree from Old Olive cardstock, and sponged the edged with Jellybean Green hybrid ink from My Favorite Things.  Then using some Whip Cream card stock, I die cut the Vertical Greetings Die-Namics and stamped it in Natural hybrid ink with the BG Linen background stamp.  I stamped the pot for the tree with Kraft hybrid ink, and the tree trunk with Hot Fudge hybrid ink, then added the tree with dimensional adhesive.  On the Razzleberry card stock panel behind the tree, I stamped the BG Romantic Script background with Razzleberry hybrid ink.  Then the panel behind that was cut from Old Olive card stock using Blueprints 13.  On the Razzleberry card stock base, I added a panel cut from Blueprints 13 with River Rock card stock, and stamped with the Cover-a-Card Greenery from Impression Obsession in Grout Gray hybrid ink.  I finished the design with a scalloped border cut from Old Olive card stock with the Blueprints 14 Die-Namics, and some enamel dots.

On the inside I added a sentiment from the Topiary Trio stamp set stamped in Razzleberry hybrid ink, and a tree stamped in Grout Gray hybrid ink.

Color Throwdown #307

Color Throwdown #307 cropped by Tammy Hershberger

Hi friends!  Time for another Color Throwdown challenge, and Monika is our hostess this week with a great Summertime inspiration photo…

swatch 307

Now, as much as I love my Splendid Sunflower stamps and Die-Namics, I refrained from using them today!  I wanted to, but decided against it.  Instead I went with this really simple design because my mojo is still missing!

Color Throwdown #307 by Tammy Hershberger

I started out with a Pacific Point card stock base, then layered it with a Sweet Tooth card stock panel that was stamped in Grout Gray hybrid ink with the BG Diagonal Stripes background stamp.  Then I took a piece of yellow dotted paper, and die cut using the Blueprints 15.  I die-cut two piece of Pacific Point card stock using the Happy Hellos Die-Namics, then glued those together and applied a coating of Glossy Accents.  The flower was cut using Blueprints 12, and layered with a blue button.

Be sure to stop over at the CTD blog for all the challenge details, and visit my Throwdown sisters for more inspiration.  Oh, AND take notice of a new Color Throwdown team member!!!  I’m so stinkin’ excited!  We loved having Jodi Collins join us as August Guest Designer so much, we asked her to stick around permanently!  Woohoo, welcome to the team, girlfriend!

Deconstructed Sketch #165

Deconstructed Sketch #165 cropped by Tammy Hershberger
Oh my, how time flies!  Here it is Thursday once again, and it’s time for another Deconstructed Sketch!
sketch165
This one is definitely going to be used again… LOVE this layout, and the limitless possibilities!  I decided to show some love to some neglected stamps in my stash this week, so here’s my card…
Deconstructed Sketch #165 by Tammy Hershberger
I stopped by the Color Q blog and found the colors for challenge #255 to be a nice starting point for my creation.  My only exception is I had to add a few yellow flowers to my bouquet for some contrast.  :)  My flowers are all from the Wplus9 Design Fresh Cut Florals stamp set.  On the Soft Sky circle in the center, I stamped the new BG Cheesecloth background stamp from My Favorite Things.  I used some Grout Gray card stock in the background, stamping the lower half with the BG Diagonal Stripes background in Olive hybrid ink.  On the top half I stamped an Impression Obsession polka dot background stamp using Grout Gray hybrid ink.  I actually had a happy accident occur when I did that.  The stamp must not have been cleaned very well from the last time I used it, and I ended up with some shades of lavender and green that mixed with the Grout Gray ink, but still goes well with the colors of the card!
Be sure to stop over at Jen’s blog for all the details on the Deconstructed Sketch today, and visit the rest of the team for more inspiration…

(I’ve got quite a bit of products from My Favorite Things that I used on this card, but since they’re in the process of launching a new website, I think the links will change so for now I don’t have any links for you!)
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Color Throwdown #306

CTD306 close-up
It’s time for Color Throwdown #306, and this week Cindy has some great colors for us, inspired by the wonderful blueberries in season right now!
swatch 306
This is a color combo a little outside the box for me but I ended up just loving it!  GREAT choice, Cindy!
Here’s my card, using some new goodies from My Favorite Things

I pulled out the awesome Geek is Chic Glasses Die-Namics, and cut two from Nightshift Blue card stock.  And I stamped the sentiment from the new CS Eye Charts stamp set in Nightshift Blue premium dye ink on Whip Cream card stock, then die cut with the Pierced Rectangle STAX Die-Namics.  On the Grapesicle card stock background, I used the new Jumbo Polka Dot stencil to emboss.  The layout for my card was inspired by the current Sweet Sunday Sketch #232, but I turned it to accommodate the longer panel with the eye chart.  On the right side I added a Nightshift Blue card stock flag from the Mix & Match Banners die set, and the flag was stamped with the BG Grid background in Whip Cream pigment ink.
Be sure to stop over at the CTD blog for all the challenge details, and please join us this week!  Also be sure to see my Throwdown sisters for more inspiration…

The Geek!

So, this past week My Favorite Things came out with some new Die-Namics… the Geek is Chic Glasses.  And I don’t know where it came from but this idea for this card just developed from those great geeky glasses!.
The Geek
I cut out the glasses from three layers of Black Licorice card stock, then glued them together and applied some Glossy Accents.  The crew-cut hair was cut from Tangy Orange card stock using the Fresh Cut Grass Die-Namics.  And then, I was able to borrow the Suit & Tie Die-Namics from my friend Kirsty (thanks girlfriend!) for the tie!  I cut the tie from Blu Raspberry card stock, then cut strips from Wild Cherry card stock using one of the Fishtail Flags STAX dies.  Around the border of the Smooth White card stock base, I sponged Black Licorice hybrid ink using the Diagonal Stripes stencil.
My card measures 9 1/4” x 4” and will fit in a #10 envelopes.  However, I really prefer my cards to open from the bottom, so I cut another piece of Smooth White card stock measuring 4” x 11” and folded it in half so it’s almost A2 size, and adhered to the back of the card front.
The Geek side view
On the inside I added another pair of glasses cut from Black Licorice card stock with the Geek is Chic Glasses, and a sentiment stamped in Steel Grey hybrid ink from the new LLD Geek is Chic stamp set.

Deconstructed Sketch #164

Deconstructed Sketch #164 close-up by Tammy Hershberger
Hello friends!  It’s Thursday, and that means it’s time for another Deconstructed Sketch!  We’re on sketch #164 this week, and Jen has designed a fabulous layout for you…
sketch164
There are a lot of fun options you can have with this with your background stamps or patterned papers!  I hope you’ll stop over at Jen’s blog and give this sketch a try!
Here’s my card…
Deconstructed Sketch #164 by Tammy Hershberger
A long time ago, the idea kept popping into my head to make a watermelon using the big circle dies in the Blueprints 16 set from My Favorite Things.  And the half-circle element in the sketch kept speaking to me so this is what I came up with!  I cut the watermelon rind using Gumdrop Green card stock, and stamped it in Gumdrop Green hybrid ink with the BG Diagonal Stripes background.  The watermelon flesh was made using Wild Cherry card stock, and I made the seeds using the leaves from Die-Namics Flower & Leaf Trio and Black Licorice card stock.  The card base is Sweet Tooth card stock, and on it I layered a Wild Cherry card stock panel backed with Black Licorice card stock, and stamped in Sweet Tooth pigment ink with the BG Gingham background.  Behind the watermelon is a piece of Black Licorice card stock that was embossed using the Polka Dot Cover-Up die.  I added some Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX in Sweet tooth card stock, and a black twill ribbon tab at the bottom to finish the design.
On the inside, I added a very simple sentiment stamped in Gumdrop Green hybrid ink from the Chocolate Sentiments stamp set…
