Color Throwdown #290
Hello, my stampy friends… it’s time for another Color Throwdown challenge, and this week it’s my turn as hostess. I hope you’ll join us this week!
When my Dad passed away several months ago, we had to spend several weekends getting his house cleaned out. In the process, I came across several sets of Pyrex dishes that my Mom must have got as wedding gifts, or very early in their marriage. Now they are my Pyrex dishes, and finding even more has become my new favorite obsession! :) So when I found this photo recently, I thought it’d be terrific for a Throwdown challenge!
Here’s my card…
I went with a simple layout this time, using the Pure Innocence Sunny Thoughts stamp set, colored with Copics. In the background, I used some translucent embossing paste with a rain drops stencil, and added a few flags with the sentiment to finish it off.

Color Throwdown #289
Hello friends! It’s time for another Color Throwdown challenge, and this week Monika is our hostess. I hope you’ll find the colors inspired by this butterfly photo to your liking, and you’ll play along with us!
For my card, I pulled out a new Papertrey Ink stamp set, Garden Grace…
The flowers were die-cut with the coordinating Garden Grace die, then stamped and layered over a doily in the background. The doily is a Prima stencil I got recently at Hobby Lobby, and I created it by mixing some Antique Linen distress ink with my Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste. I sprinkled a few sequins around, and sprayed the whole card with some Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls, too.
Stop over at the CTD blog for all the challenge details, and join us, please! And don’t forget to check out my Throwdown sisters for more inspiration…

Catered Crop Recipe Swap-Think Green
Make a project that includes the color green and come join our party. And, of course, be sure to recycle your scraps.
- Include a link to us at Catered Crop or add our button, which you can grab on our sidebar or at our {button gallery}.
- Link up and link often, but be sure you link up by 8:00 PM EST on Saturday, April 26.
- Keep the party hopping by visiting the other players and leaving comments.
- Check back with us on April 27 to see if you’ve won an opportunity to be a guest designer.
I kept my design pretty simple because it seems like my stamping time has been at a premium lately, and I just wanted to get this done. If I were to make another card like this, I’d sponge in a blue sky, and some grass at the bottom for starters. It was FUN to go through my scraps and find this variety of green papers to use, too! Even my teenage daughter said “hey, that’s cool!” so I know it’s a good card!
Be sure to stop over at the Catered Crop blog for all the challenge details and join us!
Thanks so much for stopping by! And Happy Easter… Christ is risen!

Color Throwdown #288
Hello friends… it’s time for another Color Throwdown challenge, and this week Melody is our hostess with this beautiful Spring color combo! I hope you’ll join us at the CTD blog and play along!
For my card, I just had to use some new products I just got from My Favorite Things…
I started out being inspired by the Sweet Sunday Sketch #215 for this week for the layout, then pulled out my brand spankin’ new Blueprints 14 Die-Namics for the rounded-corner sentiment panel, and the great flower and leaves. The sentiment comes from the Chalkboard Greetings stamp set, and I stamped it in Versamark and embossed with white powder. The pink piece was cut Blueprints 13 Die-Namics, and then I used the Brick Wall stencil and some translucent embossing paste in the background. I added a Razzle Berry button center to the flower, and some enamel dots for embellishment.

Color Throwdown #287
Hello friends! Well, another week has flown by and we’ve got another Color Throwdown challenge to share with you. Lori is our hostess this week, and she found this beautiful Spring centerpiece with some soft pastels for you to try. Very similar colors to last week, but I think the paler colors make it just different enough. I hope you’ll give it a try!
Here’s my card…
I actually colored this image over the weekend, and then realized it would work pretty well for my card today along with this sweet Pebbles “Garden Party” paper I recently got. I took some inspiration from the Retro Sketch #109 this week for the layout. The image I used is from A Day for Daisies.
And speaking of this past weekend, over half of the members of the Color Throwdown team actually got together for a stamping good time in Virginia at the home of Barbara Anders! We had SO. MUCH. FUN!!! We stamped, and ate, and laughed, and ate, and stamped, and ate, and laughed, and had a BLAST! Here we are on Sunday morning after we had breakfast buffet, before we all said goodbye…
Broni, Vickie and Wanda are all lucky enough to live within 2-3 hours of Barbara’s home, but my drive is 7 hours! My husband wasn’t able to go with me, so my best friend from here at home went with me instead, and Heather (she’s front and center in the purple shirt) was graciously welcomed as our CTD “mascot” for the weekend! LOL As a special treat, we asked her to join us this week for the CTD challenge, and she’s so ambitious she made two cards!
Heather doesn’t have a blog, so I hope you’ll leave her some love in a comment here and I’ll make sure she’s sees it!

Color Throwdown #286
Hello friends! Along with everyone else, I have felt like this winter was never going to end. Yet how come it seems like the weeks just fly by? Here we are, with another Color Throwdown challenge for the week! Joan is our hostess and I just adore this photo she found for our color inspiration this week! Are those birds not the sweetest?
And here’s my card for the week…
I couldn’t resist some new Papertrey Ink stamps recently, so I used them for my card today. This is from the Embellished Elegance stamp set and matching die set. I added some enamel dots, and spritzed with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine spray in Tinsel.
