Celebrating Christmas at A Day for Daisies

It's time for another new release at A Day for Daisies, and we've got some great images for you to see.  Stop over at the ADFD blog for all the details.  My card uses this sweet Christmas Ribbons reindeer, and I used the Clean & Simple sketch #269 from last week...

I apologize for this post being short and sweet, and hope you'll forgive me.  I received a call at suppertime Wednesday this past week that my Dad unexpectedly had passed away, and so my life has been turned completely upside down at this point.  But since this card was completed, I wanted to make time to share it with you.

If you're so inclined... prayers for my family would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Color Throwdown #271

swatch 271
Hello friends, it’s Color Throwdown time once again.  Barbara is our hostess this week, and she’s chosen a great Christmas-y color combo for us to try, although you do not have to make a Christmas card, if you don’t want to!  I decided to go with Christmas for my card, and here it is…
CTD271
I used my Silhouette to cut out this poinsettia on Regal Rose cardstock, then sponged some red ink on the petal edges, and spritzed the whole thing with some heirloom gold Perfect Pearls.  I used Die-Namics dies to cut out the leaves (Royal Leaves) and the label for the sentiment (Layered Label).  The sentiment is from the My Favorite Things Clearly Sentimental about Christmas stamp set. I finished off with some embossed stripes and enamel dots.
Be sure to visit the CTD blog for all the challenge details, and visit my Throwdown sisters for more inspriration…

Keep Moving

Hello friends, did you have a great Thanksgiving holiday weekend?  I did… it was so nice to have 4 days in a row off, and to be with my family.
It’s Monday again which brings on another creation from Kitchen Sink Stamps.  I’m a little burned out on holiday-themed creations, so I went with this one using the Multi-Step Bicycle stamp set.
KSS120213
My bicycle was stamped on a digital die-cut from my Silhouette, as is the basket and flowers.  I love the dimension you can achieve by using the cut files for these stamped images.  The layout for my card comes from Seize the Sketch #9.

Color Throwdown #270

swatch 270

Hello my stamping friends… it’s time again for the Color Throwdown.  Wanda is our hostess this week with this great earthy color combo.  I really liked creating with these colors… I hope you like them too and will play along with us!

CTD270

For my card, I chose to use this Warm in Winter image from A Day for Daisies, along with some green polka dot paper that was a perfect match for Gumball Green.  I added a silver shimmer paper scalloped border, and a piece of kraft from a Panera coffee cup sleeve.  Some silver cord, silver sequins and sentiment tag finished up my card along with some glitter on the snow.

Be sure and stop over at the CTD blog for all the challenge details so you can play along!  And see my Throwdown sisters for more inspiration…

Catered Crop Recipe Swap… and a little announcement!

383073_10150423231732274_786836037_n
Linda has a new Recipe Swap up this week over at the Catered Crop blog that I’m sure you’re going to want to check out…the Animal House Recipe Swap!  We’re going to get wild with this challenge. No, it’s not a Toga party or a food fight like the 1978 John Belushi classic. Just add wild life, pets, or any animal (dogs, cats, bears . . . ) anywhere in your creation. And party on!
So here’s my animalistic creation…
CCAnimalHouse
I had a few animal stamps come to mind when I learned what this challenge would be, but decided to sort through some of my less-often-used stamps to see what else I could find, and came across this Mo Manning Bunny with Gift stamp!  I think I’ve had this for 2 or 3 years, and have never inked it up, so the timing was perfect.  Now, my stamp came in rubber from Stamping Bella, but I don’t see it anymore in their store.  However, you can still get the digital version from Mo’s Digital Pencil.  I colored with Copics, added some glitter, and used Karen’s Sweet Sunday Sketch #198 for the layout.
385050_10150423233707274_493615603_n
Now… for that little announcement!  A few weeks ago I got some really happy email from none other than the Head Chef herself at Catered Crop, Linda McClain!  She was looking to fill a few slots on her team and wondered if I’d like to join?  Didn’t take me very long to answer “heck, yeah!”  And I’m thrilled to be working alongside some other fabulous designers there, too… check ‘em all out over there in my right sidebar.
So I’m super excited to share this challenge with you today, and hope you’ll play along!  I can’t wait to see what you’re going to create!  Go unleash your inner stamping animal!  :)

Tropical Christmas

While looking through my Kitchen Sink Stamps collection this weekend, trying to decide what to create for you today, I had a little Christmas light bulb turn on above my head when I saw my Multi-Step Palm Trees and Multi-Step Christmas Lights stamp sets…
KSS112513
And so, I give you a tropical Christmas tree!  I stamped my palm tree 1-2-3 with Memento Pear Tart, Bamboo Leaves and Olive Grove inks, then used a bright red pigment ink to stamp the light bulbs.  After the ink dried I used a clear Sakura Glaze pen to add a gloss to the lights, too.  I created a combined sentiment using Playful Christmas 2 and Never a Loss 4 Words.

What’s Mew at A Day for Daisies

What’s mew?  New stamps at A Day for Daisies… the Little Kitty and Cats Rule collections!  If you’re a cat lover, you’re going to LOVE these images!
Here’s my card using one of the new images…
ADFD112213
I can’t say why, but that cat just looked like a Siamese to me, so I Google’d some images and set to work coloring my cat.  Whatdya’ think?  I have to admit, I was pretty pleased with how it turned out.  :)  I used some Webster’s Pages papers, and the Mojo Monday #320 for the layout, then added the sentiment on a Fishtail Flag banner.
Be sure to stop over at A Day for Daisies to see all the new images today, and visit the other team members to see how they’ve used these cute new felines today!

Warm the Heart

Ah, the color orange… one of my absolute favorites!  So when I saw the Reverse Confetti color challenge this week, I just had to make time to join in!  I pulled out my new Be a Barista stamp set, and got to work.
RC November Color Challenge
I used the navy blue polka dot paper to paper pieced the stripe on the cup, then filled the cup with what I call “beige coffee.”  See, I don’t drink it black… I drink it beige!  Or as my husband says, I like a little coffee with my creamer!  I added some great orange chevron stripes to my design, and stamped the sentiment on the double flag-ended banner from the Tag Me Confetti Cuts die.  A little clean and simple, but I’m pleased with the results!  Hope you like it too!

Color Throwdown #269

swatch 269
It’s Color Throwdown time once again, and this week our hostess is Vickie.  She chose this beautiful photo as the inspiration for these gorgeous warm colors for Fall.
For my card today, I chose to use this darling Acorn Cutie C from A Day for Daisies along with some papers from Papertrey Ink…
CTD269
The layout for my card comes from the Retro Sketch #90 for this week, only I flipped the image to the other side since my little Cutie is facing to the right.  And, because my card has a “thanks” theme, I can also enter this in the current Catered Crop Recipe Swap challenge.
Be sure and stop by the CTD blog for all the challenge details, and join us!  I’d love to see what you create with these colors.  And for more inspiration, please visit my Throwdown sisters…

Forever & Always

My aunt and uncle celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary back in July and I realized recently that I hadn’t blogged the card I made for them, so here it is!
KSS Forever & Always
The sentiment I used for the focal point is from the Forever & Always stamp set at Kitchen Sink Stamps.
If I remember right, I stamped it in gold Encore ink and clear embossed.  For the most part, I just let the papers do the work on this card, using some pieces from a (then) new My Mind’s Eye 6x6 paper pad.
And here’s some good news… if you like this stamp set, you can get it now on SALE in the Kitchen Sink Stamps online store!
On the inside I added another sentiment from the set, and embossed the gold 50th in the center.
KSS Forever & Always inside
Quick and easy… and if I remember right, we were scrambling to pack and get on the road to go to my Mom’s for the weekend to attend the anniversary party, so quick and easy was just what I needed at the time!  :)

Peace

KSS111813
It’s Kitchen Sink Monday again (why does Monday always come around so fast?) so I’ve got a card to share with you today.  I found a couple of challenges to play along with this week, the first one being Lauren’s Inspired By challenge #96.  As soon as I saw those cone-shaped trees in the photo, I knew that Playful Christmas 1 and Playful Christmas 2 would be the perfect stamps to use.  I stamped the trees in Versamark and embossed them all with gold and silver detail embossing powder.  I added the sentiment on a vellum flag and some sequins for bling.  Then for just a little more bling, I sponged the edges of the designer papers with silver and gold Encore ink, and spritzed the whole card with Perfect Pearls mist.  The layout for my card comes from Seize the Sketch #8 for this week.

Thanks a Latte

The new release of stamps last week at Reverse Confetti pushed me over the edge, and I was “forced” to make my first purchase.  LOL  Twist my arm, but I just couldn’t resist the new Be a Barista stamp set, with the cool coffee designs to stamp inside the cup.  I’m looking forward to more fun with this stamp set, as well as the new Tag Me Confetti Cuts dies, too.
So, even though I’m too late to enter for this month I just had to give the Sketch for You to Try for November a go.  And here’s my card…
NOVSFYTT
I used some Glitz papers from my stash for this card design, and used a little strip of the gingham to paper piece on the cup, as well.  Recently one of my beloved aunts passed away, and my family traveled last Sunday for a 7-hour round trip to go to her calling hours in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  We met up with my Dad, my uncle and two of my other aunts at the funeral home, they also being from Ohio, so therefore a little far from home for the day.  My cousin’s wonderful mother-in-law with some help from her family and a neighbor laid out a wonderful spread of food for our families to enjoy between the two sets of calling hours, and it was just such an amazing gesture on their part.  It relieved us of having to sit in a noisy restaurant, spend extra money, and gave us time to just relax and visit.  So I made this card to send to Mrs. Haines as a thank you.
This card also fits in with the Catered Crop Thank You Kindly Recipe Swap this week to make thank you cards.
And as you can see from the inside, I started writing the thank you and then realized I hadn’t photographed it yet!  LOL

A Day for Daisies-Solid Gold

Ah, Solid Gold… does that bring back memories?  (Uh oh, I’m showing my age!)  Well, I thought of it because our challenge this week on the A Day for Daisies blog is to add gold to your creations!  Stop by the ADFD blog for all the details, and play along!
We’re also continuing to showcase the new releases this week of Vintage Fairies and Vintage Clocks.  This week I’ve got one of the new fairies to share with you…
ADFD111513
I colored the Fancy Hair Fairy with Copics, then added some sparkle to the wings by scribbling around with a Sakura Glaze pen and smudging with my fingertip.  Then I added some gold and an all-over shimmer by spritzing the oval with some Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls.  I also added some gold with the ribbon, some gold curly ribbon on the tag, and some sequins.  The layout for my card is the Sweet Sunday sketch #197 for this week.  The sentiment is computer-generated.
I tried to capture some of the sparkle with this photo, but my efforts weren’t very successful…

Color Throwdown #268

swatch 268
OK, who’s ready to Throwdown some colors this week?  It’s my turn as hostess and I have this photo that inspired my color choices today.  I think you could do something bright with this for a birthday or whatever, or you could go with a muted version of the colors for a Fall card (which was my original intention, but my card took a different turn).  I hope you’ll join us over at the Color Throwdown blog and play along!
I was cruising around on Pinterest one day recently and spotted this fabulous Betsy Veldman creation and just had to try to duplicate it for my card today.  I don’t think I came close to how cute Betsy’s card is, but I tried…
CTD268
For my card, I used the Fresh Cut Florals stamps and dies from Wplus9 Design, and the chevron stamps are from the LLD Document It-Right This Way stamp set from My Favorite Things.

Kitchen Sink Monday

Hello friends!  I have a stamping friend who recently had knee surgery, so I thought a card using Kitchen Sink StampsGet Well Teddy might just speed her recovery!
KSS111113
My teddy was stamped with…
#1 – Memento Peanut Brittle (stamped off once)
#2 – Memento Toffee Crunch
#3 – Memento Rich Cocoa
#4 – Versafine Onyx Black
The papers I used here are some new Pink Paislee “Hey Kid”, and I got the card layout from the Deconstructed Sketch #126 for this week.  I also used the digital cut file to cut the teddy out, making this a fairly quick creation!
I broke up the sentiment to fit on the flag on the front, then on the inside added some more…

Color Throwdown #267

swatch 267

Hey there, stamping friends!  It’s time for another Color Throwdown and this week Melody is our hostess.  She found this great Christmas snow globe photo that inspired the colors this week.  I hope you like them, and will play along!  Stop by the CTD blog for all the challenge details.

CTD267

Here’s my card for this week.  I decided to use Cool Caribbean cardstock, instead of turquoise but that’s okay… we always say “just use whatever you have that is most similar!”  I just HAD to pull out my new, not-yet-seen-ink Woodland Wreaths stamp set from Wplus9 Design!  Oh my word, this is such a fun and fabulous stamp set!  Just LOVED playing with it for this card!  (And you’ll see a few others turned to this stamp set for their cards this week, too… and it was totally coincidental!)

Here’s a little close-up… I blinged up the wreath with some glitter, then added an all over shimmer with some Perfect Pearls mist.

Playful Christmas Greetings

Did you stop by and catch this post on the Kitchen Sink Stamps blog on Thursday?  If so, you (hopefully!) took advantage of the great 31% off sale, and also saw where we’ve got two Christmas stamp sets to share with you today!
KSS110413
Playful Christmas is one of the first Christmas stamp sets that debuted from Kitchen Sink Stamps six years ago, and now it’s back and has a friend… Playful Christmas 2!  So I made this card to share with you today using both sets of fun Christmas trees, and some My Mind’s Eye papers.  I added a bunch of sparkle to my card with some ultrafine glitter, and a couple of hefty spritzes of Perfect Pearls mist, plus some sequins.  The inspiration for my layout came from the Cardabilities sketch #86 for this week, but I ended up straying a bit from the actual sketch.
On the inside, I added a sentiment from Playful Christmas 2 and a tree outline….

Washi’s Up?-A Card and my *NEW* Blog Design!

Catered Crop
I got a great surprise earlier this week when I checked out Linda’s Catered Crop blog and found that my card was one of the Winning Recipes from the “Orange is the New Black” challenge!  What fun, and such a great honor especially coming from the fabulous Linda whose stamping style I admire so much!
SO… the new Recipe Swap is “Washi’s Up?”  We’re crazy about gorgeous, translucent, eco-friendly, Japanese masking tape – Washi Tape. If you haven’t gotten your hands it yet, here’s your chance. Just use Washi Tape somewhere in your project.
  • Include a link to Catered Crop or add the button, which you can grab on Linda’s sidebar or in her {button gallery}.
  • Link up and link often, but be sure you link up by 8:00 PM EST on Saturday, November 9.
  • Keep the party hopping by visiting the other players and leaving comments.
  • Check back on November 10 to see if you’ve won an opportunity to be a guest designer.
So, here’s my Washi card for this new Recipe Swap, but I’m sure it won’t be the last one I’ll do for this challenge…
Washi's Up Recipe Swap
I had been wanting to play with this idea for awhile, so this challenge was the perfect opportunity.  I applied some black polka dot Washi tape to a piece of vellum, then cut it out with the Mustache Cut-Ups die from The Cat’s Pajamas.  I added the sentiment from the Mustache stamp set (also from TCP) then embellished with more Washi… the rainbow-colored mustache tape from Doodlebug and the black and white mustache Washi (source unknown).
My design also works for the current TCP Tuesday challenge at The Cat’s Pajamas to use NO embellishments.  As much as I wanted to add some enamel dots to this design, I (Washi) taped my hands behind my back and resisted the urge!  :)
So, be sure to hop over to the Catered Crop blog and check out the Washi’s Up? challenge, and play along!  I’ll be looking forward to your creations!
AND…. tell me what you think of my fabulous new blog design?  I’m SO excited to have something that’s unique and exclusive and all mine!  I discovered Stephanie G Designs recently and decided to have her do a custom design for me, and I. JUST. LOVE. IT!  The banner includes the Written on His Hands font that Kimberly Geswein designed using MY hand writing, and I so appreciate that Stephanie worked that into the design.  So… whadya’ think?
That’s all for today, but please stop by again tomorrow when I have some more fun news to share.  Oh, and…

Color Throwdown #266

swatch 266
Lori is our hostess this week for Color Throwdown #266, and she’s got this darling Fall-inspired photo for our color palette.  Are those acorns not the sweetest?  I’d love to have a basket full of them!
For my card, I decided to use this cute image from A Day for Daisies
CTD266
This image is A Lap Full of Kittens, from ADFD and I paired it with some Basic Grey papers that I thought worked well for the colors this week.  The layout was inspired by the Sweet Sunday sketch #196, and I turned it sideways.

Ducky Birthday

It’s Monday once again, so I’ve got a Kitchen Sink Stamps card to share with you.  Today I decided to get the new Multi-Step Rubber Ducky stamps inky and make a birthday card.  I also used the great Rubber Ducky cut files, too!  It’s SO awesome to have these available… they add a whole new dimension to your stamping.
The papers I used here are from an old My Mind’s Eye paper pad, and I used the Retro Sketch #87 for this week for the layout.
Stop and see the other Kitchen Sink Crew members today for more Monday inspiration…

Best Birthday Witches, part 2

My sweet sister-in-law (she’s my only sister-in-law but she’s the sweetest and the best!) is having a birthday tomorrow so I had to get one more near-Halloween birthday card made this week for her…
birthday card for Barbie
I had to use another sweet little witch image from A Day for Daisies for Barb’s card… this one is Little Crow Witch, and I think she’s just so darling.  My other Copic coloring idol is my friend Danielle Kennedy, so I took some clues from her darling card here to create mine today, including adding some glitter (with a black Spica glitter pen) to the crow’s feathers and to the broom.  A few silver sequins, black rhinestones, and an all-over spritz with some Perfect Pearls, and this one is ready to go!
Thanks for stopping by!  I’d love to hear from you!  It seems quiet lately… I’m feeling lonely!  :)

Best Birthday Witches

I needed to get a birthday card in the mail, and since this birthday falls so close to Halloween, I thought it’d be fun to put a little “witchy” spin on the greeting and use this new Little Moon Witch digital image I got recently from A Day for Daisies.
ADFD Little Moon Witch
Desperately trying to emulate the work of one of my Copic coloring idols Broni Holcombe, I colored up my little witch and added a great glittery moon like her card shown here.  And making a Halloween card with a ADFD image allows me to enter their challenge this week.  And also, because there’s orange, I’m entering this one over at the Orange is the New Black Recipe Swap challenge, as well!  (Linda, you created a monster!)
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Smile… the weekend is almost here!

Color Throwdown #265

CTD265 close-up
It’s time for another Color Throwdown challenge, and I’ve got one more card to share with you today using the new Multi-Step Bicycle stamp set from Kitchen Sink Stamps!
These new stamps were just released on Monday, along with 4 other fabulous sets, so I hope you made time to go shopping.  At this point, you’ve missed out on the 15% off savings, but you can still always save 10% on your order when you use the code KSS10Tammy at check out!  (Or click the link in my sidebar.)

Joan is our hostess today with this interesting color combo.  I was a little iffy on it at first, thinking “what am I going to do?” as I do many weeks lately, but found some papers that worked well, and I was off and running!

And here’s my card, using the Multi-Step Bicycle set, and some Authentique papers.  And for this card, I used the awesome now-available cut file for the bicycle, the basket and the flowers!  I am SO excited that Maria is now designing cut files to go with the stamps… it adds a whole new design element to my creations, and actually makes the mult-step stamping process easier, too!  Check out Maria’s blog post here where she explains how she does it… I tried this and it makes such a difference!  (And… even Maria will admit that her explanation can be confusing, so if it is just drop me a line and I’ll try to explain better!)
Since Cantaloupe is a shade of orange, I’m entering this one in Linda’s “Orange is the New Black” Recipe Swap challenge for this week, too!
Do you love the sentiment on the front?  Those “Keep Calm” statements are so popular lately… I love that Maria included it in this set!  On the inside is another great sentiment from the set… one that I suggested be included.  I also added a “silhouette” of the bike using the step #2 stamp, and some Memento Toffee Crunch ink.

I’ll upload my card to my Kitchen Sink Stamps gallery,
and list my color recipes there for you!
