Color Throwdown #194

Barbara is our hostess this week for the Color Throwdown, and she's chosen a lovely, unique color combo for us to try this week!  I just LOVE it, and hope you will, too!

For my card, I needed a sympathy card for a co-worker, so these colors were perfect for something serene and simple.  I used Papertrey Ink's anniversary stamp set for my design, and some old Stampin' Up! Soft Sky papers.

Thanking Those Who Serve

I had a recent request to make some Welcome Home Soldier cards and so these are the two designs I came up with... meant to have these posted earlier today, but since it's still Memorial Day in my neck of the woods, I hope you'll still enjoy them!

This first one uses a new 6x6 paper pad I recently picked up from We R Memory Keepers and the stick pin star is also part of the line.  The sentiment on the tag here is "My Hero Honors" #MC0344-F from Verses Rubber Stamps.  The layout for this card comes from Retro Sketches #13 this week (I turned the sketch on the side.)

This second card uses one of my most favorite Flourishes stamp set, Patriotism on Parade.  The papers used here are from Authentique, and I used my Cricut to cut out the largest star in the background, and a Die-Namics die for the smaller stars.  The "Welcome Home" on the tag is from the brand-new Front Porch stamp set, also from Flourishes.

My most humble thanks today to all who have served and are currently serving to preserve our freedom!  May God be with you all!

Thanksabunch!

Just take a trip to see all of our designers today and you're sure to be inspired as they show off their creations using our set Gerber Daisies! And, if you like what you see on their blogs, you should know that today and tomorrow only - you can add this set to your collection for 20% off! Just use the code DAISY at the time of check out!

My card uses the large daisies image from the set stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics from the Sunflower, Beehive, New Leaves and Tonal Neutrals collections on Flourishes Classic White cardstock.  The papers I used are from Glitz "Happy Travels" and I embellished with a scalloped border, some Ivory Lace Trim, a little stitching and a stick pin.

Color Throwdown #193 for my Hubby

The lovely Wanda is our Color Throwdown hostess this week with this great color combo above!  For my card, I decided to make something pretty playful with these colors... a card for my sweet hubby.  A little background on my life lately... I had a little scare a few weeks ago with some minor chest pain and discomfort.  Ended up getting checked in the ER, seeing a cardiologist and going through a battery of tests which all showed to be normal.  But, those who know me know that I do not eat healthy nor do I exercise if I can help it!  But with this little scare, and the resulting normal findings I feel like God has given me a second chance to get things right.  So I recently started on a plan to eat healthier and try to get some form of exercise at least 5 times a week.  And my sweet, sweet husband has been so wonderful MANY nights over the past several weeks to load up our bicycles and take me riding on the great bike paths we have in our area, and to be so supportive of my efforts.  So I made this card for him this week, using the Everyday Button Bits stamp set from Papertrey Ink.
