Scatter Kindness

January DD 6
Hi there, and happy Monday!  I’m feeling very maudlin today, because I have to go back to work after being off for five days, so I’m going to try to put on a smile and scatter some kindness by sharing this card with you!
I created this card last year for the Dirty Dozen at Splitcoaststampers, using this classic image from the stamp set Sweet Days of Summer from Flourishes.  The image was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed.  I cut out the image with the Nestabilities Large Classic Ovals, and matted with the Lacey Oval.  The cardstock base and a few of the layers are Tangy Taffy cardstock from the Candy Pink Color Made Easy collection, and the seam binding is Emerald Coast.  I also added a zig-zag border on the left edge using the Classic Ric-Rac Edgeabilities die.
Just a note, too…. if you’re so inclined, please keep a young man named Oscar in your prayers for me!  We met Oscar this past weekend (if you follow me on Facebook, you will know a little bit of the story) and Oscar is currently on a bus bound for Florida to hopefully meet up with his mom.  Please keep him in prayer for this journey and for it to have a successful outcome!  The “mom” in me is worried for him!
Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Completely In Love

eP011213
Hey there!  I pulled out some new Wplus9 Design Studio stamps and dies from eclectic Paperie earlier this week to create this sweet Valentine!  The stamps are the new Cupid’s Arrow set, and I also used the matching companion die to cut out the cupid on the upper left.  I saw this sample card made by W+9 design team member Jean Martin, and loved how she cut out the little banner at the bottom of the sentiment so it still fit the die-cut heart, so I stole her idea!  :)  I also added a little border at the bottom using the XO Border die… I just think that thing is SO cute!  The papers I used are Echo Park “Love Story”, and my pink ink is Ranger Picked Raspberry distress ink.  The large die cut hearts are from Spellbinders.  (Kim doesn’t currently have these in the eP store, but I’ll bet she could order them if you ask!)
Hope this makes you feel all lovey-dovey!

Flourishes January Release Day Two

FLLC011013 inside cropped
Hi everyone, and welcome to day two of Flourishes’ January Sneak Peeks featuring three of our newest sets! Today’s sneak is all about love and a cute little poem we all seemed to learn when we were kids! Only now, it’s paired with a few beautiful botanicals that are just screaming to be colored up! Are you ready?
RosesAreRedGraphic
Roses are Red by Marcella Hawley puts a new spin on that old, sweet poem! Roses are Red, Violets are Blue — you finish the phrase with these mix and match sentiments! This set offers a bunch of roses and violets and a single flower bunch that is perfect to send to your sweetie. Use this set for Valentine’s Day or any time you want to serve up some love in the form of a card!
FLLC011013
I made my card for this week using the new Roses are Red set, and the Sketchbook Saturday challenge #87 for the layout.  The papers I used are some old Basic Grey.  The floral image was stamped on Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics from the Candy Pink, Pistachio, True Purple and Daffodil collections.  I embellished with some Baby Pink seam binding, a crystal trinket stick pin and a button tied off with some ivory jute.  The little row of hearts at the bottom was made using my Silhouette machine and this cut file.
FLLC011013 inside
Inside I added the image again, along with the rest of the poem.

Flourishes January Release Day 1

FLLC010913 close-up
Hi all, and welcome to the first day of Flourishes’ January Sneak Peeks featuring three of the newest sets to hit the shelves. We know at this time of year you are looking for love when it comes to new stamps and we have a little bit of that! We also have some new sentiments and trendy words to jazz up the fronts of your cards! So, let’s get on with the show! First up, a set that packs a visual punch with inspiring and thoughtful words, perfect for cards of all kinds!
JustMyTypeGraphic
Just My Type by Marcella Hawley provides spunky sentiments that take the trend of fun typography and put it into words that you can use on your cards or creations.  And personally, I think this set screamschalkboard technique!” so that’s what I did!
FLLC010913
My sentiment from the set was stamped on black cardstock and I used an Inkssentials Ink Blending Tool to sponge some additional white ink around the cardstock edges, to give it that dusty, chalky look.  I embellished with a Classic and Classic Scallop Heart and tied on a Poppy button with some jute twine.  A few black Kaisercraft rhinestones on the upper left finished off my card.
Want to win this set?  All you need to do is figure out…

Color Throwdown #224

CTD224
It’s time for another Color Throwdown challenge this week, and Lori is our hostess with these great colors on these wintery cut-out cookies…
swatch 224
I went very clean and simple with my card…. I think I was tapped out of creativity when I made it a few nights ago.  LOL  I used my new Clearly Sentimental About Coffee stamp set from My Favorite Things, and paired it with the Miss You a Latte a ‘la modes stamp.  I die cut a Fishtail Flags STAX from the celery cardstock behind the image, and added a Hearts a Plenty heart on the left side with a Razzle Berry button and some Orchid baker’s twine.
Be sure to visit my Throwdown sisters for more inspiration…

You Rock My World

MFTGUESTDT0113-2
I made this fun Valentine on Monday using new papers from Echo Park, and new stamps from My Favorite Things.  The stamp set I used, Lovey Dovey Sentiments is the new Triple Scoop set available right now at MFT, and the papers are Love Story.  I loved that there are a few animal prints in the pack… they go really well with the rockin’ feel of this card, I think.  The layout for my card comes from the Guest Designer Sketch from MFT this month, only I made my card square since I used an image that wasn’t as long as the panel specified in the sketch.  I added some Fishtail Flags STAX, and used my new Designer Labels 3 STAX Die-Namics, as well as the Star Border and Musical Notes dies.

Be sure to check things out over at My Favorite Things for all the new goodies they’re releasing tonight!  There’s some cute stuff…. I’m going to need to win the lottery to get the things I want!  :)

Happy stamping!

Here’s my love creation…
FLLC010413
I used a sentiment from the Love Sweet Love stamp set, stamping it on Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock,
and cut it out with a Nestabilities Nested Pennant die.  The layout for my design is from the Cardabilities sketch #66 for this week.  I added the hearts to my design with the Classic and Classic Scallop Heart Nestabilities found in the Flourishes online store, and added a few rolled roses, too.  Finally, I embellished with a Prima pearl spray, some hot pink Kaisercraft rhinestones, a crystal trinket pin, some raspberry crocheted trim, and some metallic white curling ribbon.  The base of my card is the Lacey Circles Nestabilities, and to make it a “card” I added the back shown below…
FLLC010413 back
Just cut out an extra, plain circle, score it at about 1-1 1/2 inches, and glue to the back!  This way you don’t have to compromise part of your design to incorporate the fold!

*NEW* eP “Get Altered” Challenge

We’re starting a new monthly challenge at eclectic Paperie… the “Get Altered” challenge, and we hope you’ll join in and play along!  The “Get Altered” challenge will be held on the first Thursday of each month, and each challenge is an opportunity for you to be inspired by one of our eTeam’s creations, and to be entered into our prize drawing!  This week’s challenge is to use canvas in your project!  (Please read below for full challenge details, or visit the eP blog.)
eP010313
I created a card for today’s challenge using an Inkssentials Surfaces Natural Sticky-Back Canvas ATC for my main image.  I stamped this poppy image with Jet Black Staz-On ink then watercolored with a Tim Holtz Water Brush using Barn Door and Peeled Paint Ranger distress inks.  The “friend” definition sentiment is from the Wplus9 “Defining Words” stamp set, also stamped in Jet Black Staz-On ink.  The layout for my card comes from the Retro Sketch #44 for this week.
eP010313 inside
On the inside, I repeated one definition from the Defining Words stamp set, and added another.
******************************************************
The Get Altered Challenge is about exploring your creative journey, about stepping outside of your comfort zone, experimenting with new products, and creating altered and mixed media art.  Share a unique card, a scrapbook or journal page, a canvas, or any other project where you’ve used paint, ink, paper, and embellishments.  We want to see your work and hear about your inspiration!
All those who play along with our challenge will be entered into a prize drawing for a $15.00 gift certificate to the eclectic Paperie online store.
So grab your supplies and play along!  Here are a few things to keep in mind for this challenge…

-You do not have to use products sold in the eP store…but we do love it when you do!
-Share a direct link to your creation, not just your blog, using the Linky Tools feature at the end of the post on the eP blog.  If, for any reason, the Linky Tools doesn’t cooperate, please add a link in the Comments section of the blog.
-When uploading to any online galleries, please use any of the following keywords; eP, eclectic Paperie or Get Altered Challenge.  Link your creations to the eP blog.
-If you’d like to be considered as one of our featured projects and be entered into our prize drawing, please be sure to add your link no later than 6:00 pm EST on Wednesday, January 16th.  We’ll announce the winner/featured project right before the eTeam Picks Challenge.

Can’t wait to see what YOU create!

Color Throwdown #223

CTD223-closeup
Happy New Year!  We’re back with the Color Throwdown this week and Joan is our hostess with this unique color combo…
swatch 223
I got some new goodies in the mail this week from My Favorite Things thanks to a little Christmas cash, and this new Contempo Cage Die & Stamp set was perfect for these colors and the photo.  I used the MFT January Guest Designer sketch for the layout, and papers from My Mind’s Eye “Breeze” 6x6 paper pad.
CTD223
Other items used on my card are the Fishtail Flags STAX and the Upsy Daisy Die-Namics.  I “secured” the cage at the top with a big brown brad, and tied some buttons in the flower centers with some hemp cord.  (And P.S. My original plan when I sat down to create was to use the bird, cage and flowers in my design however, the idea in my head just wasn’t translating.  After a glance at my BFF Bar’s card, I think I got her idea stuck in my head and my card ends up looking like I CASE’d her.  But then, her creations are perfection so if you’re going to copy someone, might as well copy the best!)

A Flourishes Sale

Hello all!  I hope you had a blessed holiday – however you celebrate! I  know some of you probably have some Christmas money that you’d love to spend and guess what? Flourishes needs to reduce what is on our shelves before our year-end inventory count. So, a sale is in order!  And, it’s a win-win for everyone!
AfterChristmasSale-copy
Simply use the code MERRY12 in the coupon code box. (All codes are case sensitive, so please use all caps, just like shown above.) We should point out that this 25% off does not include Copic Markers due to Copic’s price mapping requirements for retailers like us. It also does not include gift certificates. Everything else is fair game  – even our Sale Page, which is already 50% off retail prices! So, check it out! This sale runs through the 30th of December. Another note to shoppers, we will be closing down the Flourishes store for a few hours on the 31st in order to do inventory. For about a 4 hour period, we will not be able to take or process orders. We will try to be as quick as possible!
Now… for another fun surprise!
MysteryBag-copy
We also have a REALLY fun way to be surprised this season and it is one heck of a deal. We have put together some Flourishes Mystery Bags! These goodie bags have wonderful things in them like papers, ribbons, embellishments AND… get this… an unpackaged Flourishes stamp set. Since these sets are not in their packaging, they can’t be sold. However, they stamp just the same — beautifully! Unfortunately, all sales will be final and it really is the luck of the draw. Here’s the good news — the price on these goody bags are $15. The value is well over $30. What a bargain! Just click HERE to see this little Mystery Bag of fun in the store!
And, to inspire you today I have this card to share using the Friendly Reminders stamp set.  This was a card I created last year during my term on the Splitcoast Dirty Dozen…
September DD cards 4
My birdhouse was stamped on Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored with Copics from the Rich Browns, Pistachio, Iced Aqua and Cool Neutrals collections.  Then I cut out the image with a Spellbinders Oval Nestabilities, and sponged inside the die with a little Antique Linen distress ink.  I embellished with some hand-dyed seam binding, and an Emerald Coast button.
Have a fabulous weekend, and thanks for stopping by!
