Season’s Tweetings–MarkerPOP Challenge

Season's Tweetings 2

Hello friends!  I am happy to share with you today that I am joining the MarkerPOP team today as a Guest Designer for their newest challenge!  Challenge #109 is a color challenge, which I always love…

unnamed (2)

You can use all or just some of the colors shown to create your card for this challenge which will run until Friday, December 9th.  Be sure to stop by the MarkerPOP blog for all the details!

For my card, I used the adorable Pure Innocence Season’s Tweetings stamp set from My Favorite Things, coloring the image with Copic markers.  In the background, I added the really-fun-to-use new Birch Trees and Solid Birch Trees Die-Namics, setting the trees inside a Stitched Oval Scallop Edge Frame.  The frame and top layer of birch trees were cut from Sweet Tooth card stock, and the underlayer on the trees was cut from Gravel Gray card stock.  With a nod to the gold jingle bells and ornaments in the photo, I decided to add a little bit of shimmer to my card, as well…

Behind the trees, I sprayed a mix of Heirloom Gold and Perfect Pearls mist to make a snowy effect, and also added a strip of gold glitter card stock under my sentiment strip.

Many, many thanks to Holly and the MarkerPOP team for asking me to join them today for the challenge!  It’s an honor!  Please be sure to stop by the MarkerPOP blog for all the challenge details, and play along!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Ham it Up!

It’s time for a new challenge from the Crazy 4 Challenges girls, and today is all about adding some CAKE to your card!  Mmmmmm…. cake!  You just can’t go wrong, amiright?  Even as I type this, I have a pumpkin cheesecake in my fridge, waiting to go to my sister-in-law’s today for our Thanksgiving dinner!  But I am avoiding cake these days… not part of my healty eating and exercise routine, unfortunately!  But I digress…. here’s my “cake” card for today!

C4C364

I decided to go with a cupcake for my card, using this adorable piggie from the Birdie Brown Hog Heaven stamp set from My Favorite Things.  He’s so oinking cute, don’t you think?  I die-cut the piggie with the matching Die-Namics, then colored with Copics.  The sentiment was stamped on Sweet Tooth card stock and die-cut with the Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics, and layered over a Zig Zag Stitched Circle STAX cut from Field Day card stock.  I added a little flag under the sentiment flag cut from red paper from the Fresh Squeezed Chevon Paper Pack, using a die from Blueprints 14.  The background panel, cut using Blueprints 24 is from the Sweet Celebration Paper Pack.

My card layout was inspired by the current Sketch #308, and the current Color Challenge #58, both from My Favorite Things.

Ouch!

There’s a very “cool” color combo this week for Color Throwdown #420 that I couldn’t resist, so I had to play along!  Here’s my card…

Color Throwdown #420

I kept my design fairly simple, using the fun LLD Sweet Succulents stamp set from My Favorite Things for my design.  I added a blue watercolor wash to the background using Distress Inks, then die-cut the panel with the Pierced Rectangle STAX Die-Namics.  I added a few splatters of ink, and mounted the panel to a piece of Black Licorice card stock.  I added the sentiment, added a few black enamel dots for embellishment, and mounted to a Sweet Tooth card stock base.  Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

Here the CTD graphic…

Dishes and Hugs

I managed to have some great free time this weekend that allowed me to make several cards… and helped me cope with the fact that winter has arrived in Northeast Ohio.  Ugh… the older I get, the more I just hate the cold weather!  It’s made worse by the fact that it was over 70 degrees here on Friday!  My hubby and I even managed a 10 mile bike ride before the sun went down on Friday.  And now we’re in the 30’s with wind chills that put us in the 20’s.  I can easily see myself becoming a Florida snow bird in my retirement!  LOL

The first card I have to show you was made with the really fun, new Kitschy Kitchen Card Kit from My Favorite Things.  I’m a lover of vintage Pyrex, so as soon as I saw the bowls in this set, I had to have it!  My card combines the current MFT sketch challenge #307, and the Colour Q challenge #368

MFTWSC307

This coffee pot, plate and cup in these colors really reminds me of my Mom’s 70’s kitchen, where everything was rust, gold and green!  LOL  (Who remembers Harvest Gold and Avocado Green appliances?)  I used Tangy Orange, Daffodil and Jellybean Green hybrid inks to stamp my dishes on Whip Cream card stock, and added a Chocolate Brown die-cut shelf underneath.  The sentiment was stamped in Hot Fudge hybrid ink.  I embossed a stitched square behind the shelf, and then die-cut the whole panel with Blueprints 13.

Here’s are the graphics for the sketch and color challenges…

And here’s another card I made this weekend, using the current CAS(E) this Sketch #199

Sending Hugs

This new “HUGS” die was the current Free with $60 that came with the card kit from My Favorite Things, and when I first saw it I actually had the fun idea to pair it with a scripty “sending” sentiment!  Then when I saw this sketch, I knew what I wanted to do!  The “sending” sentiment comes from the All Occasion Sentiments stamp set, and I used my MISTI to stamp the word three times using Tropical Teal, Blu Raspberry and Sno Cone hybrid inks.  I die-cut the front panel with Blueprints 24, and spattered it with some watered-down Tropical Teal ink and Perfect Pearls.  I die-cut the letters from Tangy Orange card stock, adhered them to the card stock panel and embellished with some Sparkling Clear Mix sequins.    On the card stock panel underneath, I stamped the BG Bold Diagonal Stripes background stamp with Versafine Onyx Black ink to add a graphic edge to the card front.

Sending Wags

Hello friends!  If it’s Saturday, it must mean that there’s a new challenge with the Crazy 4 Challenges team!  And it’s the third Saturday, so that means it’s time for a sketch challenge.

I really find that I don’t like a whole lot of layers on my cards these days, so I improvised a good bit on the sketch but I think you can still see it.  Here’s my card…

C4C363

And like I said, it’s pretty loosely based on the sketch…

C4C363Sketch

I couldn’t resist using the new Playful Pups stamp set and matching Die-Namics from My Favorite Things.  With a daughter in vet tech school, a stamp set full of puppies was something I HAD to buy!  I colored with Copics, and added some backgrounds from the Birthday Blowout Paper Pack.  Then I die-cut a frame from red card stock using the Essential Cover-Up Vertical Die-Namics.  The oval was die-cut using the Stitched Oval STAX Die-Namics, and I embellished around the sentiment with some enamel dots.

Color Throwdown #419

Ooooh, did you see the new Color Throwdown challenge posted on Facebook last night?  LOVE me those colors!  I just had to make a card last night, and here it is…

Color Throwdown #419

I’ve got a thing for this Birdie Brown Harvest Mouse stamp set, I think!  I just couldn’t resist using it again, and coloring with Copics.  I layered the mousie on a Gumdrop Green card stock circle that was die-cut with the Wonky Stitched Circle STAX Die-Namics, and stamped with the BG Burlap background stamp.  On the kraft card stock background panel, I stamped the BG Wood Plank background, and over that layered a piece of red polka dot paper, and an Orange Zest card stock strip that was cut with a die from Blueprints 2 Die-Namics.

Here’s the CTD color swatch…

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge–At Home

Hi friends!  If it’s the 15th, that must mean it’s time for a new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!  This week we have this fabulous rustic piece of home decor to inspire you…

14034936_10210214950798988_9046305219603367638_n

I chose to keep my design a little clean and simple this week, based on our inspiration piece…

Curtain Call-At Home

I used a piece of woodgrain designer paper for my background, die-cutting it with a Blueprints 24 die and mounting it to a piece of Whip Cream card stock.  I die-cut some Blu Raspberry card stock using the Prayers die from Simon Says Stamp, and added a sentiment from the matching stamp set on a yellow Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX flag.  Using the Leafy Confetti Cuts from Reverse Confetti, I die-cut some green card stock to add some foliage to the left side of my card, and finished with some enamel dots.

Please be sure to stop over at the Curtain Call blog for all the challenge details, and join us!  You could be in the running to be chosen as the “Lead” and be our guest designer for the next challenge!  And be sure to visit the Crew for plenty of inspiration…

Sending Thanks!

Hi friends!  I just came back from a GREAT weekend retreat, stamping with a bunch of my best friends here in Northeast Ohio!  I’m short on time, but just wanted to post this card quick to make the challenge deadlines!  This is for the current Color Throwdown #418, and the sketch #306 at My Favorite Things.

Will post details on products used tonight!  Thanks for stopping by!

Awesome

Our new challenge for the Crazy 4 Challenges is up today, and this week it’s all about sewing and stitching!  We challenge you to actually sew on your card, or add some stitched elements, whether real or faux to your design.

For me, I almost always use some faux stitching on my cards through my use of dies.  I love the extra bit of texture it gives to the card.  So today, I added a little more than usual, and here’s my card…

C4C362

One bit of stitching appears on my background panel of watercolor card stock which was cut with Blueprints 24 from My Favorite Things, after I applied a wash of aqua blue ink.  And some additional stitching comes in to play with my use of the Quilted Flower Dies from Lil’ Inker Designs.  I added a sentiment to my card using the Awesome Word die from Lil’ Inker and the matching Hello, Awesome stamp set.  I die-cut the word three times, then adhered all three layers together and applied a coating of Glossy Accents for extra dimension.  My design was finished with some enamel dots.

Apple Harvest

Hello friends!  It’s time for a new challenge with the Crazy 4 Challenges team, and this week our aim is to include fruit in our designs!  And what’s one of the greatest fruits to have at this time of year?  Oh yeah, give me a good juicy, crisp APPLE anytime!  What’s your favorite?  I LOVE Honeycrisp, Gala, Fuji, Pink Lady and Golden Delicious the most!

Well, here’s my fruity card…

C4C361

I pulled out my sweet Birdie Brown Harvest Mouse stamp set, and colored him up with Copic markers using the current Color Throwdown colors for this week.

And my card layout was inspired by the current MarkerPOP Blog sketch challenge

mp107f

On my card background, I stamped the BG Small Brick background stamp with Versarmark, embossed with white embossing powder, then added a watercolor wash using Peerless watercolors.  I made the green frame with the Pierced Rectangle STAX Die-Namics, and used Blueprints 24 to cut out the background piece.

I added the second half of the sentiment to the inside…

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge

Hello there, and happy Fall, my friends!  I hope this season of harvest has been as beautiful for you as it has been for us here in Northeast Ohio!  Except for some rainy days, we’ve had a fantastic Indian summer here…in more ways than one seeing as how the Indians are going to win the World Series tonight, too!  Smile  Oh, but I digress!

I’m here today to share the new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge with you!  Today’s challenge is inspired by this awesome photo…

13901409_10210214950558982_2960221714619351668_n

If I had felt in these gorgeous colors, I would have used it.  But I don’t so I went with card stock and here’s what I came up with…

Curtain Call - Felt

I LOVED the yellow dots on the burlap background, and I tried so hard to replicate that but had no success.  So I went with the next best thing and used the Peek-a-Boo Polka Dots Die-Namics Cover-Up die for my background.  The leaves were cut from Blu Raspberry, Persimmon, and Jellybean Green card stock using the Falling Leaves Die-Namics.  Behind the leaves I added a Stitched Circle STAX Die-Namics frame cut from Hot Fudge card stock.  And added the sentiment from Essential Sentiments stamped on a Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX Dei-Namics.  A few sequins and a button embellishment finished my card.

Please be sure to stop over at the Curtain Call blog for all the challenge details, and join us!  You could be in the running to be chosen as the “Lead” and be our guest designer for the next challenge!  And be sure to visit the Crew for plenty of inspiration…
