I had the opportunity this week to create some custom-designed cards for a customer through my Etsy shop! Gail saw this card that I made for my first Flourishes Limelight design, and really liked the image of the marching kids. She asked me to make a few changes to the original design to give these a more primitive-look and I'm so pleased with how they turned out I just had to share them with you!
For this first card, I actually tore a page from an old book we have of holiday poems and stories. (DON'T tell my husband I am ripping up this book! LOL) This page had a poem about the Fourth of July, and I loved the image on the page too, so I thought it'd be perfect as a background on this card. I did a great deal of distressing on this both with my Tonic distress tool, and some Ranger tea dye distress ink, along with the crazy stitches around the perimeter. The ribbon is tea-dyed too, for a more aged appearance.
And this card... just a simpler version of the first with the same distressed, primitive appearance!I was so thrilled to have this opportunity to create some custom cards for Gail! I hope she likes them!
Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!
I love the card with the page from your holiday book. You hit the vintage nail on the head and it's perfect!
