Paper Craft Planet Super Nova - Blog Hop

Tonight I have some bittersweet news to share.... one of our Paper Craft Planet Super Novas is leaving the Planet. Melanie Muenchinger has been on the Paper Craft Planet Design Team since the Planet launched last year, but with mounting family and design commitments she needs to scale back on her other teams to focus on illustrating for Gina K Designs. So, as a little farewell, the PCP Girls are throwing a going-away "Best Wishes" bash in the form of a blog hop featuring two of Melanie's newest stamp sets: "A Year of Leaves," and "School, Sports, Spirit!"

Also, Gina K is sponsoring a challenge in conjunction with this blog hop over on Paper Craft Planet with a chance to win either of these new sets. Upload a new project you create with a best wishes or good luck theme to the PCP gallery by Monday night, September 14th at 10:00 p.m. with the tag GKDBW. (Here is a tutorial on adding pictures to the gallery if you need it!) A winner will be announced on Tuesday and that person will have their choice of one of Melanie's new sets. Good luck!

For my card, I used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch challenge for my layout, but chose to make my own version of a Scrapling for the complete design. When I make a square card, it's generally made to fit the 5" envelopes I keep on hand, so I cut my cardstock 4 7/8" x 9 3/4" and fold in half for a perfect fit. From an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock this leaves me with a piece measuring 8 1/2" x 3 3/8" and I fold that in half to create my version of a Scrapling.

I stamped several leaves from the A Year of Leaves set using black Staz-On ink on watercolor paper, then watercolored each leaf with an aquapainter and some dye inks. I really love how they turned out! I must watercolor more often! :)
Please see more samples that my Super Nova Sisters created with Melanie's stamp sets by visiting their blogs...

And you can stop by the challenge gallery to check out all the samples and entries for the contest here.

Thanks for stopping by, and stay tuned for the Stamp Simply challenge, coming right up!

Happy stamping!
