All that Scraps Wednesday Challenge - Distressing

Greetings! Since it's Wednesday, that means we've got another challenge for you at All That Scraps! This week, we're so distressed! Wait, no... that's not right. We're getting distressed! On our creations, that is! Whatever you interpret as distressing on your card, that fits the bill today.

Stop by the ATS Wednesday blog for all the challenge details, and join us for the challenge! Remember, every week there is a new and exciting prize being offered and in order to be eligible to win, you card must include a stamp that is sold in the All That Scraps online store. Whether it is any of our wonderful in-house designers, or from the various other stamp companies that ATS carries, the choice is yours! Then be sure to link up your creation using Mr. Linky by next Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. EST and only one entry per person, please!

For my card, most of the distressing is done by way of using Ranger Distress Inks to shab it up a little. I also did pull out my not-often-used distress tool, and grunged up the edges of the Cool Caribbean panel behind the brown polka dots. Even my orange dotted ribbon got the distress treatment, as I sponged quite a bit of Vintage Photo ink on it.

The image I've used for my card is the newly released Swiss Pixie "Nora on a Swing." I'm so partial to stamp that involve swings lately, so I just had to have this one! I used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #69 for the layout.

This card is actually going to go out to our Sunday School teacher's wife. She's under a lot of stress right now in her job, and I want her to know we're thinking about her and praying that things all work out for the best.

Thanks for stopping by again today! I appreciate your visits and comments very much!

Color Throwdown #88

Another week has gone by and we're ready for another Color Throwdown. This week, after a little break spent moving, Kristin is back and is hosting the challenge with these pretty colors! I have to admit, I love me some orange but I had my doubts about this color combo. I didn't know what she was thinking, but now that I've used the colors, I LOVE this combo! I'll be turning to it again in the future, for sure!

I have used my Whipper Snapper "Think Happy Thoughts" cling set from Anna Wight. This was one of the newly released sets in March, and is such a great stamp set. I especially like all the sentiments this set comes with. I used some new October Afternoon Fly a Kite paper on my card, and that pretty flower is something new I recently got at the store. These are white hydrangea flowers from Petaloo, and I love them because I can color them with Copics to match my designs perfectly! I started out using the Mojo Monday sketch for my layout, but ending up drifting from the actual sketch somewhat, so it's a very loose interpretation! Smiley from millan.net
Stop by the Throwdown blog for all the challenge details, and then stop and see what my Throwdown sisters have created, too!

Danielle Kennedy (taking the week off)
Teresa Kline, April Guest Designer

Thanks for stopping by today! It's an especially special day for me as my hubby and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary. It's so hard for me to believe that I've been married for 20 years! What's even more incredible is that he's put up with me for that long! Smiley from millan.net

Happy stamping!

Rubbernecker Blog Hop!

Hello, and welcome to my stop on the Rubbernecker Blog Hop today! There are some awesome new stamp sets available at Rubbernecker, and the Red Hot Mommas are out to show you some of them today! Grab a cup of coffee, sit back and check them all out! (links are posted below!)

The recent new additions to the Rubbernecker collections include silhouette flowers and weeds, some really neat vines, and some fashionistas, too! In addition to new stamps, a visit to the RN website will show you that Dave has recently lowered prices! (How often do you hear about that happening these days?) Be sure to stop by soon and check out the new stamps, and great deals!

For my first card today, I have used sketch #85 from the Clean & Simple Stamping blog, and some new October Afternoon Thrift Shop paper that I just got. I used some of the new silhouette weed stamps for this card, although I think these stamps are too pretty to be weeds! My sentiment is from the Fall Trilogy stamp set.

For my second card, I used Jen's Sketch for You to Try for the layout, and just thought some pretty yellow and purple would look good together with these flowers. To ink up these flowers, I colored directly on the rubber with Copic markers, then spritzed the stamp with Copic blending solution before stamping to get this watercolored effect. The "Friend" sentiment is from the Fall Trilogy set.
Now, be sure to hop around (there's no special order) to all the Rubbernecker Red Hot Momma's blogs and see what they've created with the new stamp sets! Two lucky winners out of all the comments are going to get their choice of any one complete collection of the new releases.... the flowers, weeds, vines or fashion ladies! You can't beat that, right? So, hurry up.... get hoppin'!

Thanks for stopping by! And good luck!

The Cat's Pajamas - Salud!

There are some new stamp sets being released tomorrow at The Cat's Pajamas, and I was able to pre-order some of them for the store last week. Lucky for me, they arrived on Friday and with Alma's permission, I was given the OK to use them and post a card here on my blog for you to see, since her incredible design team has already shown some sneak peeks of the new sets!

The set I've used here is called Salud! and includes this cute penguin with his margarita, ready for a party! What could be better, I ask, than a margarita that's as big as your sombrero?
Smiley from millan.net
The layout I used for my card is from the TCP Tuesday challenge at The Cat's Pajamas blog. I decided to use some papers from the Early Bird collection from Cosmo Cricket as they reminded me of the bright colors you often see in Mexico in architecture and clothing. I added some Glossy Accents to the glass, and stitching with black thread around each panel for embellishment.
Well, another Monday is here and I hope you're ready to begin a new week! Ready or not, here it comes! Happy stamping, and thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Salud! (The Cat's Pajamas)

Fabulous Friday Challenge #9

It's time for another Fabulous Friday challenge with the i {heart} copics team! We're up to challenge #9 already and this week the challenge is to use the colors Y21, BG15 and B91 in your creation (or whatever you have that is closest to those colors!) And of course, you have to use Copic markers! :) (Did you know that Kate stocks all the colors of Sketch markers at i {heart} papers and she sells them at the best price!?)

For my card, I chose to use one of Karen Giron's fabulous sketches for the layout, and this sweet little Sailor Boy from the Little Lovin' collection at Rubbernecker stamps. For some reason, this color combo just said "nautical" to me so that's what I went with! My sentiment is computer-generated.
Stop by the i {heart} copics group at Paper Craft Planet for all the challenge details, and to check out all the cards from the design team! Remember to upload your photo to the gallery at PCP and tag it with ICH040910 so we can see all the entries in one place!

I hope your Friday is fabulous! I am working, and then going prom dress shopping with my daughter tonight! (When did I get old??? Didn't I just shop for my own prom dress not too long ago?)

Happy stamping!

All that Scraps Wednesday Challenge - Shaped Cards

(You'll find my Color Throwdown post here!)

For the All That Scraps Wednesday challenge today, we're making cards of shapes! Make a circular card, oval, heart, star, or use your Nestabilities to cut out a non-traditional shape like I've done here. Or you can stop by the ATS blog for a ton of wonderful inspiration from the design team members!
My image here is Puppy Kiki which is a new release you can get for yourself tonight at 10:00 p.m! I used the Labels 8 Nestabilities to cut out my card shape, and paired it with some My Mind's Eye paper. The dew drops I used were clear but thanks to a coating of Copic ink with my airbrush system, they now match my card!

Stop by the ATS Wednesday blog for all the challenge details, and join us for the challenge! Remember, every week there is a new and exciting prize being offered and in order to be eligible to win, you card must include a stamp that is sold in the All That Scraps online store. Color Throwdown #87 - Reach for the Stars!

(You'll find my All that Scraps Wednesday challenge post here!)

The days just fly by and here we are, April 7th already and it's time for another Color Throwdown! This week Danielle is our hostess, and she's chosen some pretty Spring shades for you to try! So I hope you'll make time to play along with us! Complete details for the challenge can be found by visiting the Throwdown blog, as well as the Inklinz tool so you can link up your own creation!

I recently got this new image from Penny Black, and couldn't wait to ink it up and color this little sweetheart with her little bunny helpers! My little ballerina is colored with Copics and the background is airbrushed. I added some Diamond Dust glitter to her tutu and my flower embellishment, and some ultrafine glitter to the stars.

Here's the sentiment and decorations inside...

With a new month, we have a new guest designer for the Color Throwdown and I could not be more thrilled to have her with us! Stop over at Teresa Kline's blog and welcome her to our team for April and check out her adorable creation! Then see what my Throwdown sisters have created, too...

Watermelon Seeds of Kindness

Hello friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and Easter holiday! Mine was nice and restful, and today is my day off so I'm very thankful for the "down" time!

This card I have to share with you today was made for the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoaststampers on Sunday. TheresaCC is the Featured Stamper and I chose this card from her gallery to CASE for the challenge. This cute Watermelon Bear is a Little Lovin' stamp from the Stamp Oasis line at Rubbernecker. I was initially not interested in these stamps, but when you hear why I love them now, you will too! The turn-off for me was the thick black line around the outside of the image! Look at the Little Lovin' page on the Rubbernecker site, and you'll see what I mean. But when you look at my colored image, you don't really notice it, do you? AND you know what else? That slightly thicker outline gives you just a tiny bit more of a margin when you're blending with your Copics before the ink might start to bleed! I have several more of these stamps to share with you, so stay tuned! I'll be getting them inky soon!

I paired this image with a sentiment from the JustRite Seeds of Kindness 1 5/8" stamp set.
And speaking of several more of these images, I have an extra Watermelon Bear to give away! Dave accidentally sent me one too many in my recent order, so I am giving the extra one away! If you'd like a chance to have your own Watermelon Bear stamp, just leave a comment here and I will draw a random winner on Tuesday evening at 9:00 p.m. EST.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Monday!

Stamp Simply #133 - Chipboard

The Stamp Simply challenge today with Sharon Johnson is actually being brought to you by Janine! Last month, if you remember, Sharon let me choose the challenge for the first week of April. She thought that was such a fun idea that each month now, the first Friday's challenge will be hosted by one of the team members! So Janine's challenge for us this week is to use chipboard in your creation! Stop by Sharon's blog and you can read all the details for the challenge, and you can also link your own creation using Mr. Linky! And be sure to see Sharon's beautiful creation for today and leave her some love while you're there!

Last Friday evening I had the pleasure of going out to dinner with some old friends at Chili's! And we had the worst waitress! So terrible in fact, that she left a pile of drink coasters on our table! Well, not a pile, but maybe about a dozen. And they're the nice, light-weight kind that you can cut out with Nestabilities! So gosh darn, if they didn't end up in my purse by the end of the night! And I decided to use one of them today for the challenge. My Nestabilities ribbon slide is cut out of the chipboard, and then I cut a piece of designer paper to cover it with my sentiment.
My pretty Spring flowers are from my Beautiful Day Whipper Snapper stamp set illustrated by the fabulous Anna Wight, as well as the sentiment. I very simply colored each flower with a Copic marker, dabbed on a tiny bit of glue and added glitter!

As usual, a new month brings a new Guest Designer to the Stamp Simply team and we're so excited this month to have the uber-talented Teresa Kline joining us! Teresa's designs knock my socks off, and I know you'll love seeing what she has to share this month! After you visit her blog, stop by and see what my Stamp Simply sisters have created this week, too!

Now, say it LOUD with me..... TGIF!!! And not just any Friday, but Good Friday! The blessed day that our Lord Jesus Christ gave his life to save ours. Don't ever forget how much He loves YOU! Late last November, the church that I pass on my way to work everyday had this on their sign.... "The greatest gift wasn't purchased on Black Friday.... it was purchased on GOOD Friday!" Amen.

Happy stamping!
